On Wednesday 5th October Boundary Primary School kicked off their Primary School Cup campaign in spectacular fashion. Our opening round fixture was against Unity Primary Academy, against whom we managed a 3-3 draw in the corresponding fixture last season.
This years team was made up mostly of Year 5 boys with the additional experience of two Years 6 boys. The game was hotly contested from the start with both teams trying their luck from distance. Boundary had their goalkeeper, Rodrigo (Yr 5), to thank for keeping the scores level after he performed a number of fine saves. Midway through the first half, Declan (Yr 5), broke the deadlock with a great strike. The team were unlucky to be pegged back to 1-1 when a looping Unity corner came off one of our own defenders and came to a rest in our own net. Credit to the team and their attitude, they did not let their heads drop and managed to add two more goals to the score line to see out the half 3-1 to the good.
A couple of changes were made at half time and it didn't take long for Boundary to find their feet, they literally hit the ground running. Tom (Yr 5), one of the substitutes to come on at half time obviously felt he had a claim to stake on a starting position for our next game as he finished the game with 5 second half goals! The final score line 12-1 kindly reflected Boundary's dominance of the second half with additional goals added by Luis (Yr6) and Coby, Jay, Dylan (Yr 5). Well done Boundary you did our school proud.
