Implementation

• All children in KS2 have access to a high quality foreign language curriculum using the Language Angels scheme of work and resources.

• Our MFL teaching is inclusive. All children in KS2 are taught French. It forms part of the school’s broad and balanced curriculum.

• Children are taught in weekly lessons by their class teacher. 

• Our children learn through modeled vocabulary, songs, games, matching activities, reading, listening and writing activities.

• Children will progressively acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary, language skills and grammatical knowledge organised around age-appropriate topics and themes. Units increase in level of challenge, and linguistic and grammatical complexity as pupils move through KS2. 

• Half termly units are progressive within themselves, as subsequent lessons within a unit build on the language and knowledge taught in previous lessons. As pupils progress though the lessons in a unit they will build their knowledge and develop the complexity of the language they use.

• Teaching is in line with national curriculum expectations.
