INTENT

For all children to have a broad knowledge and understanding of key religions in UK:

• Christianity
• Islam
• Hinduism
• Judaism
• Buddhism
• Sikhism

We aim to ensure that all children know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews so that they can:

• Develop the knowledge they need to succeed in life.
• Describe, explain and analyse beliefs and practices, recognising diversity, which exists within and between communities and amongst individuals.
• Identify, investigate and respond to questions posed and responses offered.
• Appreciate and appraise the nature, significance and impact of different ways of life and ways of expressing meaning.
• Explain reasonably their ideas about how beliefs, practices and forms of expression influence individuals and communities.
• Experience a sense of belonging and become more connected with the community.
• Understand and value differences.
• Debate and openly discuss religions and their different beliefs and values.
• Display characteristics that are linked with our school’s values.
• Prepare to engage in a multi-religious and multi-secular world.
