He also told us the important part the Godparents and vicar play in a baptism ceremony. Reverend Thompson then showed us how he conducts a baptism and explained to us that new members of the congregation are also given a candle as a symbol of light. Date: 11th Oct 2023 @ 12:47pm

This half-term we have been investigating the key question Why Is It Sometimes Difficult To Do The Right Thing?

We have been discussing sources of guidance, beginning with the definition of the word guidance

First in a group, then as a class, we discussed the sources of guidance we have in our lives. We split them up into categories including; at home, at school and at a club.

In one lesson we looked at a source of guidance for Christians: The 10 Commandments

We talked about their meaning and how they were given to Moses from God. Our task, as a group, was to put them into what we thought was the order of importance…but there were only 9 squares! Each group then had to justify why they had left one out.

We discussed the importance of the rainbow as a sign of Gods promise and thought about why people might need reminders of the importance of promises. We learnt that a Jewish person might say that although people often forget their promises, God does not and so they believe that they can always trust in God. We then ordered the story of Noah in partners and recorded ourselves on Seesaw retelling the story in our own words. Finally we listened to the song ‘Arky Arky’ which also supported us to understand the key parts of the story.

Year 1 How Should We Treat The Environment?

Date: 21st Apr 2023 @ 6:25pm

Today we began to discuss our key question in RE, ‘How might beliefs about creation affect the way people treat the world?’ We began by learning the name of the religion we will be learning about and that Muslims believe there is only one God – Allah. Todays lesson involved learning about how we should treat the environment, why it is important and whose responsibility it is. We did this through looking at images and real life nature examples. We went on a nature walk to collect lots of natural resources and we then used these natural resources to create transient nature pictures.
