Acorns - We’re going on a journey

Date: 1st Dec 2025 @ 5:20pm

Acorns have enjoyed going on their very own journey this afternoon to see our local community. We liked going on the minibus and looking at our local sights including the beach, Blackpool tower, the fairground rides and the Christmas lights.

We also looked out for different modes of transport as part of our topic. Although it was a wet afternoon, we saw lots of cars, buses, lorries, a number of trams and even a Spitfire aeroplane on the roundabout.

What a lovely journey!

Year 3 - Together Time

Date: 26th Nov 2025 @ 9:27pm

This week, we were delighted to welcome our wonderful parents and carers into school for Together Time—a special opportunity for families to join their children in the classroom and experience learning side by side.

Our focus for the session was Design and Technology, and more specifically, 3D nets. This forms an important step in our DT journey as we work towards designing and creating our very own gift bags from nets.

Parents, carers, and children explored a range of hands-on activities together. They examined real-life packaging nets, experimented with magnetic tiles to build 3D shapes, and took part in a sorting activity to identify different types of nets. One of the highlights was investigating existing products—carefully deconstructing them to reveal the nets inside, then reassembling them to understand how each shape fits together.

It was wonderful to see families collaborating, problem-solving, and talking through ideas. The classroom buzzed with curiosity and creativity as everyone discovered just how much thought goes into turning a flat net into a 3D object.

A huge thank-you to all the parents and carers who joined us. Your involvement makes these learning experiences truly memorable for the children, and we can’t wait to share the next stage of our DT journey with you!

Year 2- Birch Together Time!

Date: 24th Nov 2025 @ 9:52am

This week, Year Two enjoyed a wonderful Together Time session with our parents and carers. It was fantastic to see everyone working side by side, sharing ideas and supporting each other.

Our focus for the morning was adjectives, and we explored all the different ways we can describe characters. The children worked brilliantly—thinking carefully about personality, appearance, and feelings, and choosing exciting vocabulary to bring their characters to life.

A big thank-you to all the grown-ups who joined us. Your enthusiasm made the session extra special!

Year 2- Remebrance

Date: 11th Nov 2025 @ 11:43am

This week, our Year 2 students took part in planting poppies as a way to remember and reflect on the soldiers who have given their lives in war. 🌺

Through this simple act, the children learned about the importance of remembrance, showing respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made to protect our freedom. The poppies will grow as a lasting symbol of honour and reflection, reminding us all to pause and remember.

Year 5 - Remembrance

Date: 11th Nov 2025 @ 11:15am

Today, Tuesday 11th November, each pupil from Boundary Primary School made and planted their poppy in the school Remembrance Garden. On each poppy they had written the name of a soldier who had died in the First World War. Afterwards, the school took part in a service where the pupils remembered these soldiers and others who had sacrificed their lives in past and present conflicts. The service was led by Year 6 and Reverend Peter. The pupils also had further opportunities to reflect as they took part in a whole school art week based around the theme of poppies, using different techniques, such as collage, print and sketching.

Year 5 - Poppies

Date: 7th Nov 2025 @ 9:18am

Children in Year 5 have been looking at Remembrance and have learnt more about why the Poppy is a symbol of remembrance. They have then sketched poppies in a variety of styles and using a range of different techniques. Their final piece will be sketched onto battle field maps, flight plans or plane diagrams from World War 1 and 2. The children have also been busy making poppies that have the name of a soldier that they will keep in their thoughts when they plant them during our whole school act of remembrance on Tuesday 11th November.

Year 5 -Visit from Rev. Peter

Date: 4th Nov 2025 @ 10:54am

Today, Year 5 were visited by Rev. Peter from St. Mark’s Church in Layton to talk about their work in R.E. last half term where we were looking at the key question, “Why is it sometimes difficult to do the right thing?” Rev. Peter spoke to the class about sin and forgiveness, helping everyone to think about how our choices can affect others and how important it is to say sorry. We also discussed the feelings and emotions linked to asking for forgiveness and forgiving someone. Together, we looked at the parable of the Lost Son and learned how the father in the story represents Jesus, showing love and forgiveness by welcoming his son back with open arms.

Acorns - People who help us

Date: 17th Oct 2025 @ 8:58am

Acorns have enjoyed meeting our school nurse Miss Brooks. She visited us as part of our topic, people who help us. We enjoyed a wonderful multisensory learning experience about help and helping others.
We explored our core word help, through visual, signing and verbalisation. We loved helping our teddys and making them feel better. We even explored helping each other.

Year 3 - When Year 3 met Jen Carney an author and illustrator

Date: 9th Oct 2025 @ 9:17am

Year 3 had an exciting and inspiring visit from author and illustrator Jen Carney, thanks to the National Literacy Trust. Jen is the brilliant mind behind The Day My School Got Famous and The Accidental Diary of B.U.G., and we were lucky enough to hear her read extracts from both books. Her stories were full of humour, creativity, and relatable characters — we were hooked!

As part of her visit, Jen also led us in a fun and imaginative drawing activity. We each chose a letter of the alphabet and had to think of the most obscure thing that began with it. Then we got creative and drew our own unique pictures based on that word. It was amazing to see how original and quirky our drawings turned out — just like Jen’s own illustrations!

We’re also very grateful to the National Literacy Trust, who gifted our year group 40 copies of Jen’s books! We’ve been enjoying them during our daily ‘Buzzing about Books’ time and can’t wait to read more.

A huge thank you to Jen Carney for inspiring us with her words, her artwork, and her enthusiasm for books!

Acorns - Farm visit

Date: 18th Jul 2025 @ 8:03am

Acorns had a moo-vellous time when they visited the mobile farm. Children were excited to see and interact with lots of different animals. We enjoyed brushing the horses, petting the rabbits, sheep and goats and vocalising some of the animal sounds.

Acorns - Sports stay and play

Date: 1st Jul 2025 @ 11:07am

Acorns enjoyed welcoming their families for a sporty stay and play session. We had lots of different activities to explore, including, Boccia, climbing and jumping, peg throwing, beanbag throwing and sensory toys.

Boccia was a favourite, rolling the ball to hit the skittles and developing turn taking and peer interaction skills. We can't wait to do it again!

Year 5 - Heritage Day 2025

Date: 30th Jun 2025 @ 10:24am

This Heritage Day 2025, Year 5 explored the proud sporting history of Blackpool FC, with a special focus on their remarkable achievements in 2010. The class learned about the club’s journey to the Premier League and what it meant for the local community. To bring their learning to life, pupils were challenged to create either a website or presentation to showcase what they had discovered. The creativity and enthusiasm shown in their work was truly impressive and reflected a great understanding of Blackpool's football heritage.

Year 5 - R.E. Visitor

Date: 17th Jun 2025 @ 4:30pm

We had a wonderful visit from Rachel, who came in to talk to us about the Jewish faith. She shared some really fascinating insights into Judaism, including central beliefs like the importance of family, keeping kosher, and observing the Sabbath. Rachel explained how these traditions help guide daily life and bring people closer to their faith. The class were really engaged and asked some brilliant questions – from what Hanukkah is all about to how Jewish people celebrate Passover. It was a great opportunity to learn more about a different culture and everyone came away with a deeper understanding and lots to think about!

Year 5 - Flying High with Aspirations

Date: 17th Jun 2025 @ 4:27pm

Flying High with Aspirations: Our Aviation Zoom with Primary Futures ✈️

Last week, our children had the exciting opportunity to take part in a special Zoom session, set up in partnership with the amazing team at Primary Futures. The aim? To spark curiosity, raise aspirations, and open young eyes to the wide world of work — and what better theme to start with than aviation!

We were thrilled to be joined by two real-life pilots and an aerospace engineer, who each shared their fascinating career journeys, talked about what their day-to-day roles involve, and answered some very thoughtful (and sometimes very funny!) questions from our curious students.

The children were wide-eyed as they learned about flying commercial planes, navigating through challenging weather, and even helping design and maintain aircraft. It was an inspiring session that really brought home the message: you can be anything you want to be with passion, perseverance, and a love of learning.

We’re so grateful to Primary Futures and our guest speakers for helping our children dream big. We can't wait to see where their imaginations — and ambitions — will take them next!

Year 5 - Zoo Trip

Date: 20th May 2025 @ 3:52pm

All of the year 5 pupils had a brilliant time at the zoo. We saw lots of fantastic animals including lions, tigers and penguins. We also had a lesson from the zoo staff about 'Animal Classification', which linked to our science topic.

Year 5 - Nathan Parker visit

Date: 6th May 2025 @ 2:09pm

We were thrilled to welcome local poet and author Nathan Parker to our school, where he shared his inspiring journey into writing with the children. Hailing from Blackpool, Nathan spoke passionately about how his love for poetry began at a young age, sparked by his surroundings and a desire to tell stories. He captivated the students with tales of how Blackpool, with its vibrant culture and seaside atmosphere, influences much of his work. Nathan didn’t just talk about poetry—he worked closely with the children to create their own poem, encouraging them to use their imaginations and express their unique voices. The students loved the hands-on experience, and their faces lit up as their ideas came together into something truly special. Nathan’s visit was a wonderful reminder of the power of creativity, and he left the children with the message to keep writing and never stop dreaming—no matter where their own creative journeys take them.

Year 5 - Working with MIND

They've started exploring how to recognise and manage their emotions, support each other, and develop positive habits to boost their wellbeing – all in fun, engaging sessions that get everyone talking and thinking. It’s been a great opportunity for the children to learn valuable life skills, and they're already showing lots of enthusiasm and maturity as they begin this journey together.

Year 1 Zoo Trip

Date: 10th Apr 2025 @ 6:17pm

Today Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed a very sunny day at Blackpool Zoo! We saw lots of animals including elephants, monkeys, lions, wallabies, giraffes, sealions and penguins! We enjoyed observing the animals in their habitats and looking at/reading the signs to find out where the animals originate from and their diet. It was a very busy day at the zoo and we were all very well behaved and represented our school brilliantly.

Year 1 Police Horses

Date: 31st Mar 2025 @ 6:14pm

Today Year 1 enjoyed meeting two police horses! We began by watching the police officers get the horses ready by putting their bridles and saddles on. We then had lots of oppourtunity to ask questions to gain a better understanding of why police horses are important, when they are used and how they are looked after. We were also able to give them some commands which they followed to enable them to move forwards, backwards, left and right.

Reception Meet The Police Horses

Date: 31st Mar 2025 @ 4:48pm

This afternoon, Reception enjoyed a visit from The Blackpool Police Horses. The police officers explained that  horses were used as they can see over fences and walls and can travel down narrow alleys and through parkland- places that police cars may struggle to go. They then demonstrated how the horses can go left, right, forward and backwards and turn in a circle.
