This week, Chris Webb MP launched our School Council election campaign with a visit to to the school.
It began on Monday with a whole school assembly where Chris talked to the children about what it is like to be an MP and answered questions about his role. They also learnt about the British Value, democracy , why we vote and how to become a school councillor. The children also looked at what characteristics make a good school councillor and how they can encourage their class to vote for them.
After assembly, Miss Moyes showed Chris around the school where he had a chance to meet the children in their classrooms and speak to them about the school and their experiences. Overall, it was a very successful visit and Chris said he was "very impressed" and that we should be "proud of our school".

Year 5 - Music in our Community
Date: 18th Mar 2024 @ 9:27am
This half-term, Year 5 have been working to answer the question 'How Does Music Teach Us About Our Community?'. We have discussed heroes in our community; from our parents and carers to people who volunteer to help the homeless - we agreed that they were all heroes in their own right.
In what was one of our favourite lessons we listened to and appraised the Star Wars theme composed by John Williams - and with our keen musical ears we suggested, researched and discovered that he had composed some of the scores for our favourite films including Home Alone and Indiana Jones!
Discussions have raised how much music can affect our emotions and attitudes and how much a piece of music can be used to help us think of a particular place, person or event within our community. Our challenge now is to think about a piece of music that could describe Boundary or even Grange Park!
Date: 23rd Feb 2024 @ 3:45pm
Today, 10 pupils in year 5 completed their level 1 and 2 Bikeability training. This meant learning how to look after their bike and how to cycle safely on the road. A huge 'thank you' to Active Blackpool and Mrs McIntyre for all of their effort over the past two days.

Today we were visited by local magistrates who told us all about their jobs and how they play integral roles in the court system. We then took part in a mock trial, which centred around a case of online bullying. Children were given roles to play and words to read out, these included prosecution, defence, judge, victim, court usher and witnesses. The children really got a feel for what goes on in a courtroom and some of us are even considering future careers!

They explained how they had visited their shop and looked at the different items they have made to sell. Dayle explained that they had to calculate how much each item would cost to make and how much it would have to be sold at the Summer Fair in order to make a profit. The School Council were very excited and were keen to make cards, keyrings and sell mugs. We will be holding a further meeting to discuss our next steps.

Reverend Matthew then read the nativity story to us and we all joined in with different parts. He taught us about the key messages in the story and the roles of different characters. We then learnt about the advent wreath and the symbolism of the different candles. Finally we looked around the church and asked and answered lots of questions about features of the church.

Bailey's Book Club in Year 2 is such a huge success and we are lucky enough to have a little time with her every Wednesday. The children enjoy watching her owner, Vincent throwing the ball to Bailey outside our classroom. A few of the children gave Bailey a treat and even brushed her fur, which they got so excited about.
