Maths in Autumn 2 so far...
We have been working hard on developing and applying our Maths skills across school.
Year 2 have been busy learning to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes and enjoying using the clocks.
Year 3 have been adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers. They have been using the Base 10 to understand the process of ‘regrouping’ when adding across a 10 or 100 boundary and ‘exchanging’ when subtracting across a 10 or 100 boundary.
Year 4 have been working on adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers. They have been applying their knowledge to find missing parts to calculations and they are now starting to work through word problems, deciding which operations they need to use.
In Year 5, they have been putting their times table knowledge to the test and have recently started work on multiples and factors. They have recapped all multiplication facts and then focused on the commutative law (3x6 is the same as 6x3). They have looked closely at factors and factor pairs and, by working together, they have solved a range of questions including the use of Venn diagrams to look for common multiples.
