Year 1 Update
It has been another busy half term in Year 1!
In Reading into Writing they have read the stories ‘Monkey Puzzle’, ‘The Disgusting Sandwich’ and ‘Supertato.’ They have ordered the events, retold the stories, wrote speech bubbles and created their own set of instructions to make a disgusting sandwich!
In Maths, they have been focusing on place value within 50, partitioning numbers, finding 1 more and 1 less and counting in groups of tens and ones.
In Science, they have been learning about animals and their habitats. They have learnt about animals that live in different habitats, visited our forest school area to observe microhabitats and created their own dioramas to show an animal in its natural habitat.
In RE, their key question has been 'Why might some people put their trust in God?' They have been learning about Judaism and have enjoyed exploring Jewish beliefs about God, learning about the story of Noah and meeting a member of the Jewish faith to support their understanding about the festival of Sukkot.
In History, they have learnt about Amy Johnson. They have developed their understanding of who Amy was, how she ended up flying solo to Australia and used investigative skills to try and solve the mystery of what happened to her.
They have also been learning about weather and seasons in Geography, developing their balancing and rolling skills in PE and exploring sounds in Music.
Well done Year 1!
