Reception Becoming a Firefighter

Date: 7th Nov 2025 @ 10:29am

As part of our learning this week we have been finding out about the role of a firefigher within our community.  We talked about the importance of this job and how firefighters help keep people in the community safe.

"They wear a special uniform to keep them safe from fire" Ava

"They help people get out of fires" Joseph

"The have a big ladder on their truck to help people who are stuck" Lockie

"If a car crashes they help people get out" Reggie

We also discussed their role on bonfire night and emphasised the importance of keeping ourselves safe during these exciting events.

The children were introduced to a range of different vocabularly and practised building sentences orally.  They then enjoyed going outside into the outside area and becoming a firefighter.  They responded to emergencies from 999 phone calls, drove their fire trucks and even put out fire using their hoses.
