Reception Learning about animals that live in cold places
Date: 29th Jan 2024 @ 10:20pm
This week the children in Reception have been investigating and find out about different animals that live in cold places. In small groups we looked at the globe and world map to identify the hot and cold places. We found out that the top and bottom of the globe is the coldest and the middle is the warmest. Some of the children spotted that the Arctic (North Pole) and Antarctica (South Pole) are white on the map. As a group we talked about why it might be white and the children responded by saying "it's a cold temperature" and "it's is snowy and frozen". We talked about Antartica is a continent and what this means. The children then enjoyed exploring the different animals that might live in these cold habitats and how they survive there.
