🐾 This Half Term in Science: All About Animals! 🐾
This half term, our Science lessons have taken us on an exciting journey into the animal kingdom! We began by exploring the body parts of different animals and discussing why these features are so important for their survival. The children really enjoyed comparing animals and thinking carefully about how each body part helps them to move, feed, defend themselves, or stay safe in their environment.
Next, we learned how to categorise animals into groups such as fish, mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Pupils practised sorting different animals and explained their choices using what they had learned about each group’s key characteristics
.
This week, our focus has been on animal habitats. We drew on our previous knowledge to explore how animals are specially adapted to the climates they live in. From icy Arctic regions to hot deserts and deep oceans, the children were fascinated by how cleverly animals have evolved to survive in their environments.
The class has shown fantastic curiosity and enthusiasm throughout this topic—well done, everyone!
