Year 1- Fact Families

Today, we learnt about fact families. We used counters and split the whole into two parts using part-whole models and bar models. Once we completed the bar model and part-whole models we wrote the addition sentences to complete the fact family. We know that addition is commutative so we can swap the order of the two parts around and it still equals the same whole number. Also, we learnt that the whole can come at the start of a number sentence to complete the fact family.
