Year 3 - Science

Date: 6th Nov 2025 @ 8:12pm

Year 3's topic for this half term is Forces and Magnets. This week, we learned about different types of forces — push, pull, and twist. We talked about how a force is a push or a pull that can make something move, stop, or change shape. The class explored what a contact force is — a force that happens when two objects touch each other.
We then looked at everyday activities that use these forces. For example:
Push – closing a door or pushing a swing.
Pull – opening a drawer or pulling a rope.
Twist – turning a lid or wringing out a towel.
We also found examples where push and pull work together, such as when playing tug-of-war or riding a bike.
The children discussed and demonstrated these actions to help understand how forces work in real life.
