ππ Redwoods Explore the Artemis Mission! ππ
In Redwoods, we spent some exciting time today watching the Artemis rocket launch to the Moon ππ. The children were fascinated as they learned all about what it takes to be an astronaut π©ππ¨π, explored what the Artemis spacecraft looks like inside π°οΈ, and discovered how long the mission will last π.
Everyone showed lots of curiosity and enthusiasm, asking brilliant questions and enjoying learning about space and exploration β¨β. It was a fantastic experience that inspired lots of interest and excitement about the Moon and beyond! ππ

π£πΈ Redwoods Easter Fun! πΈπ£
The Redwoods class has been very busy enjoying lots of fun and creative Easter activities over the past few weeks! π°β¨
We started our celebrations by making Easter crispy cakes π«π₯, and the children absolutely loved getting involved. They carefully measured the ingredients, mixed everything together, and most importantly, enjoyed tasting their delicious creations at the end! π It was a great opportunity to practise independence skills and follow simple instructions.
The children also had fun making Easter cards π£π to take home. They worked hard choosing colours, patterns, and decorations, showing fantastic creativity and lots of pride in their work. Each card was unique and beautifully made π¨β¨.
Alongside this, we explored a wide range of creative Easter crafts ποΈβοΈ, including painting, cutting, sticking, and collage activities. These handsβon experiences helped develop fine motor skills while encouraging imagination and selfβexpression π.
It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged, smiling, and working together throughout these activities ππ. Well done, Redwoods, for all your hard work and creativity – you have had a brilliant Easterβfilled time! π°π·π₯
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

This half term, Redwoods Class have been focusing on one very important skill: working together. Whether collaborating on creative projects, solving tricky challenges or simply supporting their friends, the children have shown fantastic teamwork, communication, and social skills. π¬π€
Throughout the term, pupils have taken part in a wide range of group activities, all designed to help them practise listening, sharing ideas and cooperating with others. They have:

π²π Played team games
π§±π§ Created amazing Lego models together
ππΏ Gone on exciting bug hunts
βπ§ Solved Maths problems in pairs and groups
Each activity has helped the children develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships with their classmates. It has been wonderful to see how they support one another, explain their thinking, share roles and celebrate each other’s successes.
The progress they’ve made is clear — Redwoods are becoming thoughtful teammates, effective communicators and true problemβsolvers. ππ

Redwoods Class have been busy unleashing their creativity this week as they designed and made their very own brilliant bug art! Using paint pens and a range of collage materials, the children created an amazing collection of colourful creatures. πβ¨
From spiders π·οΈ and ladybirds π to butterflies π¦ and beetles πͺ², every child produced a unique bug bursting with personality. The children experimented with patterns, textures and colour combinations, showing fantastic artistic flair and imagination.
It was wonderful to see how confidently they used the materials — layering collage shapes, outlining with paint pens and adding tiny details to bring each bug to life. No two creations were the same, and the classroom quickly filled with a vibrant swarm of beautiful, eye-catching artwork. π¨π
Redwoods showed brilliant focus, creativity and pride in their work, and their finished pieces look absolutely fantastic!

This week, Redwoods class have been busy becoming ecoβengineers! ππ‘ The children designed and built their very own bug hotels using recyclable materials, helping us learn about sustainability while supporting the mini-beasts living in our school grounds. ππͺ΅
Working in teams, the children planned their designs carefully βοΈπ, thinking about what different insects might need to feel safe and cosy. They selected materials such as cardboard tubes, pinecones, sticks, plastic bottles and paper scraps β»οΈπ¦, showing fantastic awareness of how everyday items can be reused instead of thrown away.
Throughout the project, Redwoods demonstrated wonderful teamwork, creativity, and communication π€π¨π¬. They shared ideas, listened to one another, and worked together to bring their designs to life. It was brilliant to see everyone so engaged, focused and proud of their creations! ππ
Our finished bug hotels are now ready to be placed outdoors π³, and we can’t wait to see which creatures decide to check in! πππ·οΈ

Redwoods Class Begin Their Eco Project ππ±
Redwoods Class have kicked off their exciting Eco project by learning about the bugs that live around our school grounds. The pupils have been bug hunting in the playgrounds π, carefully exploring and discovering the different minibeasts they can find.
We have talked about where these creatures live and the habitats they need to survive π‘. Using this knowledge, the class has designed their very own bug hotels π, which they are looking forward to building next week.
It’s been wonderful to see such curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm for nature. Well done, Redwoods Class! ππ

Redwoods Class Explore Robots in Lego Therapy Session π€
Redwoods Class took part in an exciting Lego Therapy session based on the theme of robots. Working together π€, pupils built their own creations while developing teamwork and communication skills.
The class discussed what robots are and their different functions βοΈ, thinking about how they can help people in everyday life. Pupils designed robots with a range of abilities, including helping with tasks π§Ή, supporting people β€οΈ, and responding to emergencies π¨.
It was fantastic to see such creativity π¨, collaboration π€, and enthusiasm in such a short space of time. Well done, Redwoods Class! π

In a morning we have been practising our spellings in a more creative way. Writing in colourful pens, writing in sand, making words with play dough and using electrical writing pads. It has been fun and has helped us to develop our confidence in spellling and letter formation.

In Redwoods we collaborated on a huge piece of art, where we had to create lots of different circles. We made some of our circle into planets, emojis, balls, animals, faces and many more. It was fun to work together, develop our creativity and share resources.
Lego Therapy - Space adventure

In Redwoods we enjoyed our Lego Therapy session, where we made models and items themed around space. We made space stations, space buggies, spaceships and lots more. Together we collaborated on different projects. We demonstrated lots of good communication skills and resilience.

We had fun this week making wonderful and delicious snacks. Some of use decided to make healthy sandwiches, while some of us wanted to make a warm healthy snack so we made yummy toasties. We worked together to help each other and to stay safe. After making our snacks we enjoyed eating them at snack time while listening to a story.
Keep it Calm and Under Control Week

In Redwoods we have spent our afternoons thinking about two key words 'calm' and 'control'. Together we have thought about the ways we can regulate and tell others how we feel. We watched 'Dojo Videos' about a characters moods and emotions. Dojo didn't know what a mood was or how he could control it. Over the week we learnt about how he talked to his friends and adults about how he was feeling.Working together we have created things to help us calm down such as sensory bottles, squashy stress balloons and sensory slime. We are looking foreward to using these in our classroom and using slime for our new 'Slime Time' sessions.
Connect, Communicate, Collaborate

Over the last two weeks we have talked about the New Year and setting goals. We have discussed how we want to be better communicators and work together as a team. We have been exploring ways we can play and create together. It has been fun developing our new Lego Club where we have to work toegther to create different projects. All of these activities involve us using and developing our speaking, listening, understanding and tolerance of each other.

In Redwoods we have spent lots of time thinking about Road Safety. We have been practicing crossing roads together, we have created road safety posters and even made traffic light cookies. We have been developing our understanding of the word safe and unsafe, looking at lots of everyday examples.
Redwoods - Mastering Multiplication

Our Maths journey over the last two weeks has been to master multiplication and division. Working collabortively we have expllored these two mathematical terms using lots of physical resources. In groups and pairs we have investigated ways to group amounts, share equally and also how to record these clearly. towards the end of our journey we bgan to see the relationship bewteen division and multiplication, making links to our timestables.

In Redwoods we spent the week looking at and thinking about what being Eco Friendly means. We discussed different examples of pollution and how these damage the environment. Together we also designed persuasive posters encouraging our peers to become Eco Friendly by recyling, walking to school, saving water and electricity and many more ways. We were lucky to get a tour of school from Mr Galloway our site surpervisor. He told us all about the things Boundary School does to be Eco Friendly. This helped us to gather ideas for our letters to Miss Moyes about other ways our school could reduce its carbon footprint.

In Redwoods we have been focusing on bonfire night and Diwali this week. We have learnt about this wonderful celebration and its importance within the Sikh and Hindu religion. Together we discussed how this compared to festivals and special times we celebrate. Working in pairs we read instructions on how to make a salt dough Diya lamp. Working tohgether we made the salt dough mixtures measuring the correct amount out before making our Diya lamp shape.

This week our class has been working hard in Maths and we are really proud of the progress we are making. We've been focusing on place value - unerstanding what each digit in a number really means. We have been exploring how numbers are made up of hundreds, tens and ones. Together we have been paritioning numbers in different ways to show their value. Workign with partners and in groups we have also been practcing how to find one more and less as well as ten more and less. To finish our place value week we focused on finding nad estimating where numbers belong on numberlines before comparing the value of numbers.

In Redwoods we have spent alot of time this half term develop our understanding what resilience means and sometimes that this can be difficult to achieve. Together we have also been developing our ability to self regulate and identify ways to help ourselves to cover come barriers. We have enjoyed doing this through creative, purposeful and interactive activities. We learnt about the ' The Bounce Scale' and how to use this as a regulation tool.

This week we explored a range of different healthy fruits and what they taste like. After thinking carefully about how these fruits tasted we designed our own fruit smoothie. Once we were happy and with an adults help we prepared our fruit for blending by using safe cutting skills that we have mastered. Finally we enjoyed drinking our smoothies before evaluatign them.
Redwoods Cooking Chocolate Chip Cookies.

In this weeks cooking lesson we discussed more about kitchen safety before looking at the steps to making chocolate chip cookies. We measured out each of our ingrediants before creating our cookies dough and baking it. Our cookies were tasty and crunchy.
Redwoods : Addition and Subtraction

In Maths we have been looking at different strategies for addition and subtraction. We have looked at practical strategies with physical resources, counting forwards and backwards, before we started to look at efficient methods.

In Redwoods we have started to create the parts for our first playground project. We are creating a bowling alley with recylable resources. So far we have painted the tires for the barriers of our lane and some bottles which will become the skittles.

We have begun our art journey looking at printing and different ways we can create abstract aretwork using hand prints. We looked at examples produced by artists around the world, before we explored a range of colours. It was intersting to explore the different shades we could make and the different compositions we could make with our hand prints.
