Children had a great Sport Relief. They were all allowed to come into school in their sports wear and they were involved in different sporting activities throughout the day. We were also lucky in Fern class as we had a special talk from Mrs Cooper on her journey through martial arts. Mrs C said how it is a sport which focusses on strength and agility. We wouldn't want to mess with her!

Today, we made the most of the nice weather and explored the playground and play equipment with our afternoon Nursery children. We started off by playing different circle games, practising rolling the ball and following instructions to play each game. We then started to move around the area, walking, jumping, skipping, running and even hopping! After we had warmed up we each had a turn on the equipment. We all had to wait patiently, as balancing on the beams was quite tricky, so a lot of us needed help from our teachers! We all travelled up and across the ramp, across the chains, and back down the ramp before having a well deserved rest at the end! We all enjoyed exploring the equipment and didn't want to come back in to Nursery for home time!

The adults from Fit 2 Go have visited us in Nursery for the past few weeks. This week we talked about the importance of having a balanced and healthy diet, and what can happen if we don't. We firstly had to 'brush our teeth,' using a laminated set of teeth and a whiteboard pen, we had to draw the plaque onto our teeth, before cleaning it all off again! We had to make sure we went in between each tooth so that they were clean, shiny and bright! We then had two pictures of two very different teeth. One was a happy tooth, and we had to make sure we fed it healthy foods to keep it happy and healthy. The other picture was an unhappy tooth, who showed us what our teeth may be like if we choose to eat lots of sugary foods and don't clean our teeth enough! We then took part in some active exercise to finish off the session, working on our teamwork and balance skills!

In our dance lesson today we revisited the types of gestures we would display before and during an exam: tapping head, yawning, stretching, looking at our watch and thinking. We enjoyed joining all of our movements together where we did them in unison and we contributed to adding a sequence in canon too, which looked extremely effective.

This week in Fit 2 Go Year 4 have been learning about the Eat Well Plate and the different food groups. They discussed the purpose of each food group and why a balanced diet is so important. Using this knowledge the children were able to plan a day of healthy meals and snack for themselves.

Our Year 5&6 Basketball Team participated in the Blackpool Schools Youth Games Basketball Festival which took place at Blackpool Sixth College. They were coached by Blackpool Sixth Forms 1st Team Basketball Coach and Players to learn more about the sport and enhance their own skills and performance. As their training session came to an end with the 1st team coach and players, the team then got the chance to compete in a tournament against other Blackpool Schools. Our Team finished 2nd in the group with 1 win and 1 loss, which unfortunately was not enough to qualify for the final. However our team were brilliant. WELL DONE TEAM!
Winter - Science, Phonics, Writing and PE!!!
Date: 27th Nov 2019 @ 10:11am
This week we have been learning about winter in Science. It is "one of the four seasons of the year". We know it is often "very cold in winter" so you "need to wear warm clothes". 'Sometimes it snows in winter and you can build a snowman". We used bicarbonate of soda and citric acid to create a snowstorm! We revisited, recapped and embedded our seasons learning and knowledge in PE by making seasonal tress in our warm up, writing about our winter experiment in writing and finding 'snow' words in phonics which contained different snowmen sounds.

Danceathon, spots and Pudsey Bear! What a great day we had in Year 1 for children in need. We started our morning by doing our Children In Need danceathon. Children all over the country took part and we wanted to join in too. We enjoyed learning the dance, it was great fun, a way to support charity and good exercise for our bodies. In writing we wrote about Pudsey Bear. We had to make a fact poster and an opinion poster. What food do we think Pudsey bear would like to eat? What do we think Pudsey bear might like to do? These were all our opinions. Finally we ended the day with a whole school Children in Need assembly. Everyone looked different .... because we were all spotty!
Sharing Our Learning with Our Parents and Carers
Date: 5th Nov 2019 @ 3:15pm
We had such an exciting morning today as we were able to share our school learning journey's with our parents and carers. Our adults joined us in PE where we took part in a range of team-building activities. We had great fun showing our adults how to climb through a hoop without letting go of their hands and we even had to put together jigsaws that (when we worked as a team and put them together correctly) had our Boundary Always Characteristics on them!

The One Where They Play Hockey!
Date: 1st Oct 2019 @ 6:32pm
Our PE unit this half term is hockey. Over the past few weeks we have been practising keeping control of the ball, dribbling the ball into positions and push passing to a partner. This week we have progressed to playing competitive matches against each other. We are learning to mark a player and intercept the ball when it comes near us. We still need to work on getting into a space and not all crowding around the person with the ball!

Welcome back everyone after the Summer break! It has been lovely to hear all about your Summer trips and activities, and to meet our new children! This week we have been learning all about ourselves and how we are similar and different. We have made ourselves using collage and looking at our hair and eye colour. We have explored all the areas of Nursery and spent some time in the outside area creating and taking part in an obstacle course. We have started to talk about our families and who we live with, including our pets! We will be looking at this more next week.

What a day we had at school! The Green and Purple Bubble had such a busy no device day. Obviously we did some handwriting, reading and times tables, but we also had a great time making peppermint creams, wrap pizzas, playing board games, doing some PE and creating our own sunset art with oil pastels.
Some of the pupils at home also had a busy day too!
Team Work Makes The Dream Work
Date: 16th Dec 2020 @ 2:21pm
What a challenging lesson today’s OAA was! The pictures say it all!!!
Our first activity was to split into two groups and run through the hoola hoop obstacle course at the same time as the other team. Once we were face to face with our opponent, we had to play ‘rock, papers, scissors’ and the winner could carry on their journey as the other person had to go to the back of their line. As soon as one person made it to the other side, they won a point for their team.
Our next task consisted of us getting into groups of 4/5 where we had to balance the hoola hoop on the back of our hands (on our fingers). We then had to follow particular commands whilst the hoola hoop balanced such as: kneel down, raise your arms up, put one arm behind your back, lift one leg up etc… This tested our patience with our team and relied on good communication skills.
Our final task was to get into groups of 8 where we were given a number 1-8. There were 9 cones and we had to get in numerical order but only by moving one space (and person) at a time, and using the blank space. to achieve this This is a similar concept to the game slider puzzle.
We can’t wait to see what next week’s lesson has in store for us!
