Reception- Blackpool Football Club
Date: 7th Nov 2025 @ 10:19am
Over the next half term, each week, Reception will be having a PE lesson with Blackpool Football Club. They will learn the fundamental skills of listening, moving in different ways, throwing and catching a ball. controlling a ball with their feet, taking turns and showing respect. We also learned the importance of warming up before exercising.
Take a look at how we moved around the hall as different animals, changing our speed and listening to the instructions.
"You have to warm up so your muscles don't get hurt" Zane
"I was a giraffe standing on my tip toes" Zara
"You have to stop when it is red!" Faith B

Nursery are so excited that this half term they will be having a training session with Blackpool Football Club every Wednesday! The children throughly enjoyed the session and can't wait to build our football skills!
Nursery Get a Little Bit Spooky
Date: 6th Nov 2025 @ 2:51pm
Nursery got a little bit spooky this week as we celebrated Halloween. The children have been busy making potions, creating a witch using different shapes, making pumpkins out of playdough and practising their cutting skills by giving a witch a hair cut! They have also been exploring light and shadow by using halloween torches in the black out tent and helped some spiders to find all 8 of their missing legs! Its been a very spooky week!
Date: 6th Nov 2025 @ 7:59am
This week we began our Yoga unit in PE. This involved beginning the session with a full body scan and relaxing our bodies. We then began recapping on all of the yuga moves previously taught over the years. This included the following poses: cobra, downward-facing dog, tree, mountain, butterfly etc.
Nursery Squiggle While they Wiggle
Date: 14th Oct 2025 @ 9:19pm
Nursery follow the "Squiggle While You Wiggle" programme to support the development of their gross motor skills. Part of this is to do a series of movements on paper using a pencil in both hands. This terms movements have been "up, down, side, side, cross over". This is always done on a large scale and will eventually help the children to hold a pencil correctly and form letters.
Date: 2nd Oct 2025 @ 2:24pm
Nursery had a wonderful learning experience with some shaving foam, paint and a couple of paint brushes! They explored the shaving foam and discussed its smell and texture. We then added some paint and talked about what happens to the colours as they mixed them all together. The chidlren then decided to mix the shaving foam with water and leaves to make a witches potion!
Nursery get Funky with their Fingers
Date: 2nd Oct 2025 @ 12:24pm
Nursery have been busy developing their fine motor skills with lots of fun funky fingers activiites. It's really important that they build up the strength in their fingers so they can develop a strong pencil grip.
Year 3 - PE - We're going on a trip to...
Date: 2nd Oct 2025 @ 9:09am
This week, Year 3 travelled the world—and beyond—through dance in PE! Each group imagined an exciting trip to a different destination: the desert, outer space, the beach, the mountains, and under the sea. Using balances, jumps, extensions and expressive movements, they brought these places to life. From floating like astronauts to crashing like waves, every performance was packed with creativity and energy. The children worked brilliantly in teams, using their bodies to tell stories and show us where they were. What a fantastic way to explore the world without leaving the hall! Well done, Year 3!
Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 4:39pm
This week we have been reading the story Rosie's Walk. Although, unaware that a fox is after her, Rosie the hen takes a walk around the farmyard, leading him into one accident after another. An amusing story that helps children learn positional language.
We sequenced the story, collaged a fox, retold the story using small figures and puppets and then acted out the story in our outdoor area where we made an obstacle course to travel under, over, through and around just like Rosie did on her walk.
Take a look at our photos.

Our fitness unit continues as we look at increasing our heart rate through gentle exercise, increasing this so we use more energy. This week we also introduced the skill of evading in small group games involving attack and defence positions. We thought tactically about how we would move in order to slow down an attacker and how sometimes this involves larger movements of our bodies all the while the attacker had to think about how they moved, introducing 'false moves' to put off the defenders and break through the defense.
Year 3 - Dancing With Charcoal
Date: 18th Sep 2025 @ 9:30am
In this week’s art lesson, we explored the exciting world of performance art through the work of Heather Hansen. She creates stunning pieces using charcoal in each hand, moving gracefully across large sheets of paper on the floor. Inspired by her, we had a go at creating our own movement-based artwork. Using charcoal, we danced, stretched, and moved to make expressive marks, turning our movements into art. It was a unique and creative experience—and yes, we got a little messy, but that made it even more fun! We loved combining art with movement in such a playful way.
Date: 17th Sep 2025 @ 4:58pm
The children are becoming very famialir with the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" and loved creating marks to represent parts of the story using differernt brush strokes. The children repeated words from the story as the made the marks "swishy swashy", "splash splosh", "squelch squerch", "stumble trip" "hoooo wooo".
Date: 17th Sep 2025 @ 4:49pm
We are reading the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen and have had lots of fun bear activites in our provision. The children really engaged with our bear sensory tray amd created some great bear bottles by filling them with coco pops. This was great for their fine motor development as they scooped up coco pops are carefully poured them in to the different size bottles. As the childen filled the bottles we counted how many scoops and used mathmatical langauge including full, empty, bigger and smaller.
Date: 12th Sep 2025 @ 2:18pm

Date: 10th Sep 2025 @ 2:30pm
Nursery have begun their dough disco journey. The children will take part in dough disco twice a week as well as having opportunities to use playdough daily in continuous provision. Using play dough is a great way to strenghten fine motor muscles to support the development of a good penci grip.
Date: 10th Sep 2025 @ 2:14pm
There's nothing we like more in nursery than a nice bit of water play! It's a fantastic way for the chiildren to explore capacity, develop their fine motor skills through pouring and emptying and build relationships through sharing and talkikng through ideas. If only we could find a way to stop them getting soaking wet!
Date: 8th Sep 2025 @ 4:32pm
We have begun our firness unit in Year 6. Today we took part in a circuit training session, which included squats, plank, running and step-ups. Next week we will begin looking at specific activities and timing ourselves doing them. Over the half term we will continue to time ourselves and see if we can increase the amount of activity we do or if we can faster at certain activties.

To make up for our cancelled Sports Day today, we got the chance to go in the hall and do archery. We absolutely loved it!
Date: 9th Jul 2025 @ 11:29am
What an amazing day we had at Sports Day! The sun was shining, and everyone was buzzing with excitement. We kicked things off with a thrilling running race. Everyone cheered as our classmates dashed down the track, some really showing off their speedy legs!
Next up was the silly throwing wellies contest. It was hilarious watching the wellies fly through the air! Some didn't go in the direction they wanted to - ooops! We then got our bean bags ready for throwing into the hoops. A bit tricky at times, but everyone had a go and lots of giggles were had. After that, the standing long jump tested our jumping skills – some of us made impressive leaps!
To keep our energy up, we zoomed through the speed bounce challenge. Finally, we finished with a fast-paced cup stacking race. It was a real nail-biter! A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who came to cheer us on. We had a fabulous day full of fun, laughter, and friendly competition. Can’t wait for next year!
Date: 4th Jul 2025 @ 10:47am

We found a very fishy way to develop our fine motor skills! The children has strips of stickers and had to carefully peel each one off and stick it on a a giant fish to create its scales. It was also a create way for the children to work collaboratively.
