Support for Parents and Carers: Blog items

This week at Boundary, parents and carers were invited in to class to join the pupils in their lessons. In year 5 we used our multiplication knowledge to complete a tarsia. A Tarsia puzzle is a type of jigsaw puzzle where each piece has a question or answer on its edge, and the goal is to match the correct answers to the questions by arranging the pieces to form a larger shape. After completing the puzzle, pupils made their own tarsia for their friends to complete.

During the Autumn Term, some of our families participated in Family Workshops, designed to help support with learning at home. The focus has been working together and there was the opportunity to create some resources that can be used at home to support the learning that takes place in school. These workshops were well attended and we received some fantastic feedback from participants. Thank you to all those involved.
Making Changes - Healthy Lifestyle Family Workshop

Some of our families have taken part in a 12 week Healthy Lifestyle course. The course involved a wide range of activities desgined to help families make healthy changes. The sessions focused on portion sizes, the Eatwell Plate, shopping on a budget, healthy packed lunches and the importance of sleep to name a few.
The families involved showed a great committment to making a change and they had lots of fun whilst doing it. Well done to them all!

We invited our nursery families in for an Easter themed stay and play this week. The children had a great time doing Easter crafts with their families and making an Easter biscuit. We also has a special visitor from Communicate who came in to share information about supporting children with their communication and langauge.

In Year Three, we have joined the ‘Little Big Book Club’ scheme in which children were given 5 amazing books from ‘Amazing facts every 7-year-old needs to know’ and ‘Einstein the Penguin’. We looked at how children and parents could read together and develop a shared love for reading!
