Redwoods
At Boundary Primary, we believe that every child needs to be supported to thrive, at their own pace. Redwoods is a highly personalised, school-funded specialist provision for pupils with EHCPs or who are on this pathway. It is designed to meet individual needs in a nurturing, small-group environment, while promoting inclusion and positive relationships with mainstream peers.
Structure of the School Day
Morning Session: Targeted Cognition and Communication focus.
Core Subjects: Targeted teaching in Maths, English (including reading and writing).
Speech, Language, and Communication: Daily interventions and activities to develop key communication skills, based on specific targets
Individualised Learning: Each pupil works on next steps tailored to their EHCP outcomes and assessed needs.
Small Group and 1:1 Support: Higher adult-to-pupil ratio enables personalised attention and support.
Regular Brain Breaks: Short, structured breaks are built in to help pupils regulate, refocus, and reduce anxiety, enabling them to thrive.
Afternoon Session: Nurture Base - flexible group to meet the needs of pupils across the school.
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Support: Activities and interventions designed to help pupils develop emotional literacy, resilience, and positive relationships.
Nurture Approach: Pupils who need additional SEMH support participate in group and individual nurture activities to build confidence, self-esteem, and engagement with school.
Continued Inclusion: Wherever possible, pupils are supported to join mainstream classes or activities, maintaining friendships and a sense of belonging, with subjects they can succeed in.
