Growing and Caring for Ourselves

Date: 23rd Jun 2021 @ 8:20pm

This week in Year 1 we have been learning about how we grow and change and how we are all different but can still be friends.

We recapped on a number of different emotions and discussed examples of when we have all felt this way. We then read a story about two very different children. We paused at different parts to explore the emotions the characters were feeling and why. The two children initially thought they couldn't be friends, but we know that it is okay to have friends who are different to us! We talked about the ways we are all different and why it is important to be kind to those who are different to us.

Our learning has also involves discussing different types of families and who we can ask for help. We read another story and thought about all the different people who are a part of our families. We learnt that we all have lots of different people who are our family and we identified that all our families are different! We have also discussed how babies need lots of care and support, but as we grow and change we begin to learn and do more things for ourselves.
