It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Date: 15th Dec 2020 @ 2:41pm

Reception have been very busy the last few weeks getting ready for Christmas.  The children have enjoyed role playing the Santa’s Workshop wrapping presents, writing list and designing and building toys for Santa.  We have been reading lots of books about winter and Christmas including our favourite ‘Stickman’.  We wrote simple words, captions and sentences about Stickman and enjoyed using the props at the storytelling table to retell it in our own words. In Maths we have been ordering numbers one to twenty and adding a subtracting single digits using festive objects.  We have been making patterns using different Christmas items and putting Santa’s presents in order of size.   We have been adding items to our celebration box and discussing how we prepare for Christmas with our families.  At the creative area we have enjoyed making Rudolph using a range of different materials, thinking carefully how to attach legs and antlers and sponge painting our Christmas wreaths.  What a busy few weeks of learning we have had
