Our nursery children had great fun using juicers to squeeze lemons and oranges. As they pressed, twisted and squeezed the fruit, they were developing important fine motor skills and strengthening the muscles in their hands and fingers.

The activity also encouraged lots of communication as the children talked about the fruits, described what they could see and smell, and shared their thoughts about the different tastes. New vocabulary such as juicy, sour and citrus was introduced through conversation.

Working together helped the children develop their social skills too. They took turns using the juicers, supported one another and enjoyed sharing the experience with their friends.
