Our Reading into Writing Journey: The Gruffalo

Year 1 have been thoroughly enjoying their Reading into Writing journey based on the wonderful story The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. The children have been fully immersed in the text, exploring the characters, settings and key events throughout the story.

As part of their learning, the children have written some fantastic pieces of work inspired by the book. They have used exciting adjectives to create detailed character descriptions of the Gruffalo and the other woodland animals. They have also worked hard to retell the story, using key features of the text and sequencing the events correctly.

We have been incredibly impressed with the children's enthusiasm, creativity and growing confidence as writers. It has been wonderful to see them applying their phonics, spelling and sentence-writing skills independently within their work.

Well done, Year 1, for producing such amazing writing and bringing this much-loved story to life! 📚✨
