Reception and the Owl Babies
Date: 4th Oct 2026 @ 9:25pm
This week, we have been enjoying the wonderful story Owl Babies. Through our learning, we have been finding out all about owls, including what they eat, how they hunt for their food and where they live. We explored lots of new vocabulary and learnt the word nocturnal, which means being awake at night and sleeping during the day. The children loved sharing their new knowledge and talking about the different types of owls.
We have taken part in lots of exciting owl-themed activities across the classroom. We used puppets to retell the story of Sarah, Percy and Bill, and sequenced the events to show our understanding of the book. In the creative area, we painted and made our own beautiful owls using a range of materials. We also enjoyed a variety of spectacular owl-themed maths activities, helping us to develop our counting, sorting and number skills. It has been a fantastic week of learning and the children have shown great enthusiasm, creativity and curiosity throughout!
