Reception me and my family

This week, our Reception children have been learning about themselves, their families and the special people in their lives. The children have enjoyed talking about their families and friends, sharing who lives at home with them and discussing some of their favourite activities they do together. They have also been drawing pictures of their families and explaining their drawings to their teachers and classmates.

As part of this activity, teachers have been encouraging the children to hold their pencil correctly using our 'three friends' grip and to develop their early writing skills by ascribing meaning to the marks they make. We have loved hearing the children's conversations and learning more about each unique family whilst celebrating what makes us all special.
