School Council- Symposium Meeting
Date: 16th Oct 2026 @ 11:18am
The Year 5 and Year 6 School Councillors visited Moor Park Primary School to take part in a School Council Symposium meeting with School Councillors from other Blackpool schools.
During the event, the children discussed the qualities and skills needed to be an effective School Councillor. They worked together through a range of fun activities, including games, discussions and role-play, which encouraged teamwork, communication and leadership.
The councillors shared their ideas and listened to the views of others, helping them to develop a better understanding of their role and responsibilities. The activities provided lots of opportunities for pupils to collaborate and come up with creative suggestions for making a positive difference in their schools.
Everyone had a fantastic time, enjoyed meeting pupils from other schools, and gained valuable experience working as part of a wider School Council network. The children are already looking forward to the next Symposium meeting in the Spring Term.
"I was a little nervous to start with but I have really enjoyed meeting everyone and taking part" Amelia
"We talked about a lot of British Values, like in our assemblies, and we need to show resilience, active listening and respect to be a school councillor" Mia
