Year 1 Explore Christianity and the importance of Prayer
Date: 8th Jul 2026 @ 8:18am
This half term, Year 1 have been learning all about Christianity. Throughout their RE lessons, the children have explored the significance of the Lord’s Prayer and enjoyed learning about the parable of The Lost Son, discussing its important messages about forgiveness, love and family.
To bring their learning to life, the children were delighted to welcome a very special visitor this week. Reverend Thompson joined Year 1 to talk about why prayer is important to Christians and how people use prayer in their everyday lives. The children listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions and thoroughly enjoyed finding out more about Christian beliefs from a real-life faith leader.
It has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to deepen their understanding of Christianity and reflect on what they have learned throughout the half term. We are incredibly grateful to Reverend Thompson for giving up his time to visit us and share his knowledge.
What a lovely way to conclude Year 1’s RE learning this half term! 🌟
