Year 1- Our Local Area

Today, we began to explore our new topic of our local area. We began by reading 'The town mouse and the country mouse' thinking about the differences between where the mice lived before moving on to learning about human and physical features of our local area. Next, we began to look at map skills and took an ariel view of the playground outside and tried to identify some of the things we could see in the playground and show them on the map. Lastly, we made our own messy maps on the classroom using resources to show the different areas of our classroom. We look forward to continuing our learning in the coming weeks.
