Year 1- Sun Safety
Date: 17th Jun 2026 @ 12:47pm
Year 1 had some very special visitors this week! ๐ฉโ๏ธ๐จโ๏ธ
We were visited by two nurses from the Blackpool School Nursing Team, who came to teach us all about how to stay safe in the sun.
๐ Learning Through a Story
The nurses read a lovely story about a teddy who learns how to keep safe in sunny weather. The children really enjoyed listening and learning alongside the teddy!
We discovered lots of important ways to stay protected in the sun, including:
- Wearing shorts and a t-shirt ๐
- Putting on a hat with a brim to protect our face and neck ๐
- Wearing sunglasses ๐ถ๏ธ
- Using sun cream (SPF 25 or higher) ๐งด
- Staying out of the sun between 11am and 3pm when it is strongest โฐ
๐ญ Acting It Out
The children had great fun acting out the story! They were able to try on different items of protective clothing and think about how each one helps to keep them safe.
This hands-on activity helped the children remember what they can do when the weather is sunny.
๐ A Wonderful Learning Experience
It was a fantastic session, and the children showed great enthusiasm and understanding. We are so proud of how well they listened and joined in.
This visit has helped prepare the children to stay safe and healthy during the summer months.
โ๏ธ Working Together
Please support your child at home by reminding them to:
- Wear sun cream
- Put on a hat
- Drink plenty of water
- Take breaks in the shade
Thank you again to the Blackpool School Nursing Team for such an informative and enjoyable visit!
