Year 2 Art: Inspired by Vincent van Gogh 🎨✨

In Year 2, we have been learning about Vincent van Gogh, our inspirational artist 😊. We began by creating a one-page spread in our sketchbooks, filled with interesting facts and drawings about his life and artwork 🖼️📖.

Next, we practised some important artistic skills, including shading and experimenting with different sizes and directions of strokes ✏️. The children explored how these techniques can add texture, depth and detail to their artwork, just as Van Gogh did in many of his famous paintings 🌟.

We then challenged ourselves with continuous line drawing, focusing on carefully observing objects and including even the smallest details without lifting our pencil from the page 🖊️👀. The children found this an enjoyable activity, but also discovered that it was a tricky skill to master! Through perseverance and practice, they produced some fantastic pieces of work and showed great determination throughout the lesson 👏✨.
