Year 2- Oracy
Date: 7th Oct 2026 @ 3:34pm
In Year 2, we have been developing our oracy skills by focusing on how we can use both gesture and voice to communicate our ideas clearly 😊.
During this lesson, we practised using gestures when referencing someone else's idea 👋. The children discussed how gestures can help listeners understand who they are talking about and how this skill links to our ABC (Agree, Build, Challenge) discussions 💬. It was wonderful to see the children becoming more confident speakers and active listeners.
We also explored how to use tone and volume in different situations ðŸŽðŸ”Š. The children thought about how we can change our voice depending on our purpose, such as speaking loudly to share an idea with a group or using a quieter, calmer voice during discussions. Through a range of activities, they practised adapting their voices to suit different audiences and situations.
The children showed fantastic enthusiasm and maturity, developing the skills needed to become confident and effective communicators 🌟
