Year 2- Pol-ed - Thinking about ages
Date: 5th May 2026 @ 12:01pm
This week in our Understanding the Law lesson, Year 2 explored the important question: “Why does age matter?” 👶➡️🧑
The children learned that some activities have age limits and that these rules are there to help keep us safe 🛑💛. We started by talking about things they are allowed to do now, and things they might be able to do in the future, helping them understand that as we grow, our responsibilities and choices change ⏳✨.
Together, we discussed age restriction laws and why parents, teachers and the law sometimes say “not yet” 🚦. The children thought carefully about risks, and what could happen if a child tried to do something meant for teenagers or adults.
Through fun activities, pupils: ✅ Sorted activities into ones for children, teenagers or adults
✅ Guessed the legal ages for certain activities
✅ Talked about why these ages are set
✅ Designed their own age‑restriction posters 🎨🪧

To finish, the children took part in a personal reflection, thinking about how these rules affect themselves, their families, friends, and the wider community 🌍❤️.
