Year 4 - Temptation and sacrifice

Date: 3rd Mar 2026 @ 8:17am

This week in Year 4, pupils have been learning about the story of Jesus in the wilderness and what it teaches Christians about beliefs, values, and making good choices. After watching a short video clip retelling the story, the children discussed what they thought was happening and explored the different ways Jesus was tempted during his 40 days in the desert.

Through class discussion and creative activities, pupils identified the important choices Jesus made to show his devotion to God. They learned that Christians believe this story shows Jesus as strong, faithful, and committed to doing what is right—even when it is difficult. The children also explored the difference between temptation and sacrifice, thinking carefully about why sacrifice is considered an important Christian value.
