Year 4 Physical Education: Yoga and Mindfulness
This week in Year 4 PE, pupils took part in their second yoga lesson as part of the Get Set 4 PE scheme. The session focused on developing balance, flexibility, and coordination through a carefully sequenced yoga flow.
Pupils learned three new yoga positions and practised linking these together smoothly, creating a simple flow of movements. They showed great concentration and control as they worked on holding each posture and transitioning between them with confidence.
To finish the session, pupils enjoyed 10 minutes of guided meditation, helping them to relax, focus on their breathing, and feel calm after the physical activity. This was a valuable opportunity to support both physical and mental wellbeing, encouraging pupils to slow down and be mindful.
The class approached the lesson with a positive attitude, demonstrating respect for the space and for each other. It was lovely to see pupils embracing the calming nature of yoga and developing their confidence in trying new movements.
