Year 5 - Music

Date: 19th Oct 2026 @ 1:11pm

Year 5 have been busy exploring Ghost Parade in their music lessons this week. We began by listening to and appraising the piece, discussing its musical features and sharing our thoughts about how the music created a spooky atmosphere. The children then practised singing Ghost Parade, working hard on their pitch, rhythm and expression to bring the song to life.
As budding musicians, the class also enjoyed improvising along to the song using glockenspiels. Using the notes C, D, E, F and G, they experimented with creating their own melodies to accompany the music. To finish the lesson, the children stepped into the role of composers, creating their own ostinato patterns on stave paper. It was wonderful to see their creativity and confidence growing as they explored different ways to perform and compose music.
