Year 5 - Oracy

Date: 15th Oct 2025 @ 1:02pm

In today’s oracy lesson, we explored how using different tones can completely change the way our words sound and feel. We talked about why tonal variation is so important in good speaking — it helps keep the listener engaged and shows emotion and meaning more clearly. Then, we practiced reading some descriptive and narrative paragraphs aloud, experimenting with our voices to match the mood of the text — like using a calm, soft tone for peaceful scenes and a louder, more energetic tone for action parts. It was really fun hearing how much expression and life tone can add to a simple piece of writing!
