Year 6 - Magistrates visit
Date: 30th Sep 2026 @ 11:47am
⚖️ Year 6 Become Magistrates for the Day! 👩⚖️👨⚖️
Today, Year 6 welcomed some special visitors from the magistrates' court who taught us all about the important role magistrates play in our justice system.
🏛️ We learned how courts work, who is involved in a court case, and how magistrates listen carefully to evidence before making fair decisions. The magistrates explained how they help to ensure justice is carried out and answered lots of our interesting questions.
💻 As part of the session, we took part in a fascinating mock trial based on a case of cyber-bullying. Pupils were given different roles, including witnesses, magistrates, and legal representatives. We listened to the evidence, considered different viewpoints, and worked together to decide on an appropriate outcome.
🤔 The trial helped us understand the serious impact that cyber-bullying can have on people and the importance of being responsible, respectful, and safe when using technology and communicating online.
🗣️ Everyone showed excellent teamwork, speaking and listening skills, and thoughtful decision-making throughout the activity. It was exciting to experience what happens in a courtroom and learn about the justice system in such an interactive way.
⭐ A huge thank you to our visiting magistrates for giving up their time to provide such an engaging and informative session. We learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoyed becoming part of the legal system for the day!
