Year 5 Exploring Strong sketches

Date: 21st Sep 2022 @ 8:54pm

We explored using heavier, darker pencils and charcoal to sketch onto recylced maps this week, to continue our journey. Our aim was to make our sketches stand out against the print of the maps. We sketched mountains and animals with focus and some people really used the features of the maps to enhance their sketches.

Year 5 Art begins with Typography

Date: 8th Sep 2022 @ 12:36pm

We have started our learning in Art by creating our own different styles of Typography. We learnt that typography is any form of print style designed to create an idea or emotion. We learned about Louise Fili who is a famous graphic designer who created posters for the New York Subway using different type fonts. By cutting up paper and sketching, we started to create our own letters.

Year 3 The final design !

Date: 6th Apr 2022 @ 4:07pm

We spent an exciting day making our final product of a pillow! We used our designs to decorate the outside of our pillow with fabric pens, felt and sequins. We then used the backstitch that we had been practicing to attach the fabric together. We had to really concentrate to ensure our thread didn't get knotted and we didn't un-thread our thread. Have a look at some of our final pillows!

Year 3 Splendid seagull sketches !

Date: 28th Mar 2022 @ 3:47pm

For Art Day Year Three tackled painting seagulls to fit in with our seaside theme. We focussed on the space, colour and textures of these birds and incorporated these in our masterpiece! The children enjoyed exploring what came to mind when they thought of  a saegull. We then looked at skills of using water colour to make a wash and mark making for the seagull's feathers.

Year 6 Inspired by Banksy

Date: 24th Mar 2022 @ 12:08pm

Year 6 had a great day learning about the street artist Banksy and created their own Banksy inspired Blackpool street art. First, we learned about Banksy and used our sketch books to explore his work and inspiration. We discussed the meaning behind some of his pieces and whether grafitti is art or vandalism. We then practised using sponges and spray bottles to create a 'spray paint' effect. Finally we used stencils to create our collaborative 'I love Blackpool' street art.

Year 5 And..... action!

Date: 23rd Mar 2022 @ 10:54am

We are proud to publish the official photographs from Year 5's performance of 'Much Ado About Nothing' at Blackpool's famous Grand Theatre, which was held on Tuesday 15th March 2022.

The children who performed did an outstanding job at performing one of William Shakespeare's most famous plays, and at representing our school!

Don't they look like they should be on a film set in Hollywood?!

The children particually enjoyed moving around the room whilst taking on the role of different animals!

Dancing Fireworks!

Date: 1st Nov 2021 @ 7:28pm

Today we enjoyed our first PE lesson through dance! We linked our session to something very exciting that is happening on Friday 5th November...Bonfire Night! We began by making different movements using different shapes and patterns with our hands. We tried to use our whole body to make big and small shapes before using the pom poms and ribbons. We then practised making the shapes using the equipment, before putting our patterns to music. We then learnt and practised a short bit of dance, using our own indiidually thought through movements and some we were shown!

Our First Year 3 Outing!!

Date: 1st Oct 2021 @ 8:25am

We were so excited to go on our first trip in such a long time. The children were overwhelmed by getting on a coach and had such fun. We went to the Globe Theatre and watch a Ballet demonstration. The children danced so beautifully and we learnt so much about Ballet poses and what being in a Ballet School is really like.

Point those toes!

Date: 23rd Sep 2021 @ 3:54pm

Year 3 were lucky enough to start their journey with The Royal Ballet School. The children loved this new experience and were mesmerised by the musician that played for us while we danced. We pointed our toes, stretched our arms and learnt lots of new positions. We are looking forward to continuing out lessons and our going to The Globe Theatre to watch the experts dance!

Ballet Dancing Success!

Date: 7th Jul 2021 @ 12:14pm

Lots of children have been chosen this week by the Royal Ballet Teachers and invited to participate in a club from September which will give them Dance opportunities with the Royal Ballet School. We have been practising galloping, balancing, moving to the music and coping the different stretches that the teachers have shown us. It has been a fabulous opportunity for Year 3 and we know the next Year 3 class will really enjoy taking part in September!

Musicians!

Date: 7th Jul 2021 @ 12:06pm

We have been creating our own music! Not only have we enjoyed working with Mr. Simpson to create our Samba Rhythms, but we have composed, transcribed and performed our own music using the notes DEF on the Glockenspeils. We played to each other in class, making sure we took note of the music we had composed. We used crotchets, minims and rests to put 4 beats in each bar. We also tried to draw our notes accurately on the stave!

Rhythm of the Rainforest

Date: 24th Jun 2021 @ 11:35am

We were lucy enough to experience a dance lesson with a wonderful lady from the Royal Ballet Company. We created our own dances and movements based on the rainforest and we loved it! We linked it to our Science topic and thought about the animals and plants that we would see to inspire us.

Dazzling Dancers!

Year Five explored the topic of coasts through dance and Year Two visited the rainforest and the animals you would find there. A fantastic time was had by all!

Now Press Play - The Water Cycle

Date: 17th Jun 2021 @ 7:53am

Today we went on an adventure in Ethipoia using the Now Press Play Headsets. We learned about the Water Cycle and how a water droplet from a lake or the sea evaporates to become water Vapour, which condenses to form heavy clouds and then precipitates to form rain on mountains/hills so that the water can rejoin the streams and rivers. It was a great adventure where we had to save the village from being in drought because a mean farmer had made a damn. We listened and acted out the story well!

Now Press Play - A Viking's Tale

Date: 16th Jun 2021 @ 4:53pm

Today we took part in an immersive listening experience where we listened to a story about the Viking's. We had to follow the story and use actions throughout when prompted. These made us have a better understanding of what was being told within the story as well as it being incredibly fun! We can't for our next 'Now Press Play' experience!

We have had a selection of entries from KS2 for the Boundary Voice competition, which required pupils to sing to their favourite backing track and send in a video for the virtual competition.

The singers were all brilliant and those who participated should be very proud!

We are delighted to have such talented pupils and can't wait to start the school choir again soon.

Fantastic winners have been chosen and will be put forward to the Virtual Blackpool Pop Idol 2021 - Good luck to them!
