No Pens - Lots of talk!

Date: 22nd Jan 2020 @ 7:40pm

The tables were cleared of all pens and pencils and we had a full day of lessons without any books. Our no pen day saw us working collaboratively and developing our communication skills. We held debates, discussed resilience and learned how to say the date in French. Our maths lesson involved working together to solve multiplication problems using counters and number cards and completing various puzzles.

Quelle est la date?

Date: 16th Jan 2020 @ 9:20am

What is the date? We started our new French unit by learning the months of the year. We looked at the similarities between the English and French words and discussed how this could help us to remember the French months. We learned that the French do not use capital letters for months. The children enjoyed a matching game, a song about the months and we consolidated our learning by completing a listening exercise. Next week we will learn how to say the full date.

Location Location Location

Date: 28th Nov 2019 @ 7:16pm

This half term's French lessons have been all about Location, Location, Location! We have learned the names of various shops and other places around town. We have learned how to ask for and give directions, as well as how to seek help and clarification if we are lost. The children excelled at translating French into English and constructing sentences.

Bienvenue à la troisième année (Welcome to Year three)

Date: 19th Sep 2019 @ 9:19pm

Since the beginning of Year three, children have started to learn French. In lesson one, the children researched the country of France, the cities and monuments which make the country what it is. In week two, we dived further into the culture and the lifestyle of the people who live there and by week three we were learning some French words and phrases. Children have thoroughly enjoyed looking at Google Earth and walking through the streets of Paris, watching videos, singing French songs and playing 'Linguascope', an online interactive website where they can learn through playing games.

Quel temps fait-il?

Date: 4th Jul 2019 @ 5:43pm

What's the weather like? In French this week, we have been learning phrases that describe the weather. We learned how to answer the question Quel  temp fait-il? and wrote our own weather forecasts, which we presented to the rest of the class.
