Year 6 - Visit from Reverend Peter
Date: 13th Jul 2026 @ 2:25pm
🙏 Year 6 Welcome Reverend Peter! ✨
Recently, Year 6 were delighted to welcome Reverend Peter to our school as part of our Religious Education unit on Christianity and Forgiveness.
⛪ Learning About Forgiveness
During the visit, Reverend Peter helped us explore what forgiveness means. We discussed how forgiveness is choosing to let go of anger or resentment towards someone who has done us wrong. We learned that forgiveness can help people move forward and build stronger relationships.
🤝 Understanding Reconciliation
We also talked about reconciliation, which is when people work together to repair a relationship after there has been conflict or hurt. Reverend Peter explained that reconciliation often involves honesty, kindness and a willingness to forgive and be forgiven.
💭 Sharing Our Ideas
Year 6 enjoyed asking thoughtful questions and sharing examples of how forgiveness can be shown in everyday life. We reflected on how everyone makes mistakes and why it is important to show understanding, compassion and empathy towards others.
❤️ Our Key Message
One of the most important things we learned was that forgiveness does not mean forgetting what happened, but it can help us find peace and move forward. As Christians believe, forgiveness is at the heart of Jesus' teachings and helps people to live in harmony with one another.
🌟 A huge thank you to Reverend Peter for taking the time to visit us and help deepen our understanding of forgiveness and reconciliation. We thoroughly enjoyed the session and learned a great deal from his insights.

Year 3 - The Story of Rama and Sita
Date: 6th Jul 2026 @ 7:25am
This week, Year 3 enjoyed learning about the famous Hindu story of Rama and Sita. The children listened carefully to the story and discussed the important messages and values that it teaches.
As part of our learning, we explored the Hindu beliefs of Dharma and Karma. We talked about how Dharma means doing the right thing and following your duty, even when it can be difficult. The children identified examples of Rama showing Dharma through his honesty, bravery and loyalty. We also discussed Karma, the belief that actions have consequences, and considered how the choices made by different characters affected what happened in the story.
The class shared some thoughtful ideas during our discussions, making links between the story and how we can make good choices in our own lives. It was wonderful to hear the children reflecting on kindness, responsibility and doing what is right.
To bring the story to life, the children worked collaboratively in groups to retell the story using finger puppets. They had great fun acting out key events and bringing the characters to life through their performances. The classroom was filled with enthusiasm, creativity and laughter as each group shared their version of the story.

🪷 Buddhism
📿 In RE, we have been exploring Buddhism and asking the question: What does it mean to live a good life?
🌱 We have reflected on what it means to be truly content and how this connects to Buddhist beliefs.
🧘♂️ We have learned about the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path, comparing these teachings to other faiths and considering how they can guide our own lives.
🤝 The children have also discussed whether a truly selfless act exists and how Buddhists aim to live selflessly in their thoughts and actions.

🌱 Our New RE Journey: What Is a Good Life?
Year 6 have started a new RE unit learning about 🧘 Buddhism, based around the big question:
❓ What do we mean by a good life?
We began by thinking about 😊 happiness and 😌 contentment. Happiness can feel exciting but doesn’t always last. Contentment is a calmer feeling—being satisfied with what we already have.
We also talked about 🧠 wants and ❤️ needs. Needs are things we must have, like food and shelter. Wants are things we would like to have. We noticed that always wanting more 🛍️ can sometimes stop us from feeling truly happy.
This links closely to Buddhist beliefs ☸️. Buddhists teach that constant wanting can lead to unhappiness, and that a good life is about understanding ourselves, being kind ✨, and finding inner peace 🕊️.
As the unit continues, we’ll explore how Buddhism encourages people to live wisely and contentedly—and what this might mean for our own lives today 🌍.
Year 5 - A Community of Christians
Date: 14th Apr 2026 @ 2:14pm
This week, children in Year 5 began their new journey in R.E looking at Christianity and beginning to answer the question 'How do people decide what to believe?'. The children looked closely at what a community is, the communities they are a part of and how Christians might feel part of a community of faith. They then looked at sources of authority both at school, at home and within Christianity and the impact these people of authority have. Finally, the children were given the 'Hot Air Balloon Task' where they were asked to decide who should be saved from a balloon that had popped! They were given the figures of Jesus, a teacher, a baker and a chef. Some children decided, for example, that Jesus should be saved so that he could save the others if Christians prayed to him as a source of authority.

This week the children in Reception have been learning about the Christian celebration of Easter. We started the week off with a special assembly led by Year 6- Rev Peter also came to talk to use about Easter. We listened to the Easter story and learnt that Christians believe Easter is when JEsus died on the cross and then rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. We explored different traditions at Easter including goign to church servies, egg hunts and buying Easter eggs for our friends and family. As part of our learning we worked together to sequence the story and made our own cross on a hill to represent the crucifixion.
Date: 1st Apr 2026 @ 6:16pm
This week we reflected on our RE journey this half term and revisited our prior learning on trust. We revisited the importance of trust and who we can trust/rely on in our own lives. We looked back at our class promises and discussed if they had been kept by all members of our class. We also thought about how we each felt about continuing with these promises throughout the year and how easy/difficult it is to keep promises. We then completed some trust activities with our peers in our outdoor area!
Date: 26th Mar 2026 @ 8:28am
In today’s lesson, In today’s R.E lesson, we explored the importance of Holy Week and why it is such a significant time for Christians. We learned that Holy Week remembers the final days of Jesus’ life, beginning with Palm Sunday and ending with Easter Sunday, when Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead.
The children looked closely at two important symbols connected to Holy Week and Easter:
The Cross – We discussed how the cross reminds Christians of Jesus’ sacrifice and his love for others.
Easter Eggs – We explored how eggs symbolise new life and hope, linking to Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday.
The children then worked in groups to sequence the Easter story using picture cards, putting the key events—such as the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection—into the correct order. They showed great teamwork and understanding in explaining what each picture represented.
By the end of the lesson, the children had a deeper understanding of why Holy Week is meaningful to Christians and how its symbols help tell the story of hope, sacrifice, and new beginnings.
Year 1- Create their own Sukkah's
Date: 23rd Mar 2026 @ 8:02am
This week, Year 1 have been learning all about the Jewish festival of Sukkot, and to help deepen their understanding, the children have been busy designing and creating their very own Sukkahs. A Sukkah is a special temporary shelter used during Sukkot to remember the time the Jewish people spent in the desert.
Before building, we talked about the important features a Sukkah must have. The children remembered that it needs three sides, a roof made from natural materials such as leaves or twigs found on the ground, and that it is built to show thanks to God for providing food, water, and protection during the journey through the desert.
Using a range of materials, the children carefully crafted their structures, paying close attention to the shape and the natural roof. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork, and growing understanding of why Sukkot is such a meaningful celebration.
Year 1 loved bringing this festival to life through hands-on learning—and their Sukkahs were absolutely fantastic!
Date: 18th Mar 2026 @ 7:55am
This week, we learnt about the history of the festival of Sukkot and how this is celebrated by Jewish families today by talking to our visitor Rachel! She gave us an introduction to Judaism where we impressed her with what we have learnt so far and learnt that Sukkot is a time for Jewish people to remember to be grateful to God for keeping his promise and providing them with all that they need. Rachel brought lots of things to show us and we spent lots of time asking and answering questions to support our understanding.
Year 4 - Learning About Sacrificial Love (Agapé)
Date: 11th Mar 2026 @ 4:56pm
This week in RE, Year 4 have been exploring the idea of sacrificial love, known in Christian teaching by the Greek word agapé. Agapé means selfless, unconditional love – choosing to care for others without expecting anything in return. We discussed how many Christians try to live this out in everyday life: by helping people in need, forgiving others, standing up for what is right, and showing kindness even when it is difficult.
To understand this more deeply, the children learned about Oscar Romero, a well‑known Christian figure who became Archbishop of San Salvador. Motivated by his faith and by Jesus’ example of sacrificial love, Romero spoke out against injustice and defended poor communities, even though it put his own life at risk. His courage and compassion helped the children see what agapé can look like in real‑life action.
The class then had the opportunity to respond with their own thoughts and ideas, and then they designed their own Romero crosses, explaining how the colours and symbols represented his message of love and hope.
We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful discussions Year 4 have had and the empathy they’ve shown throughout this unit.
Date: 10th Mar 2026 @ 2:44pm
We began by talking together about the world at the time of Noah. The children learned that the Earth had become a place where people were not making good choices, and God wanted to make a fresh start. However, Noah stood out.
We discussed how:
- Noah was kind and good
- He listened carefully to God
- He always tried to do the right thing
Because of these qualities, God trusted Noah to build the Ark and keep his family—and the animals—safe during the great flood. The children had some brilliant ideas about why being trustworthy and doing the right thing mattered so much.
After exploring the story, we completed a fun activity where the children filled in the missing words in a short retelling of the events. This helped them practise:
- understanding key vocabulary
- recalling important details
- thinking carefully about what happened and why
The children enjoyed showing how much they had remembered, and it sparked lots of great discussions.
Year 4 - Temptation and sacrifice
Date: 3rd Mar 2026 @ 8:17am
This week in Year 4, pupils have been learning about the story of Jesus in the wilderness and what it teaches Christians about beliefs, values, and making good choices. After watching a short video clip retelling the story, the children discussed what they thought was happening and explored the different ways Jesus was tempted during his 40 days in the desert.
Through class discussion and creative activities, pupils identified the important choices Jesus made to show his devotion to God. They learned that Christians believe this story shows Jesus as strong, faithful, and committed to doing what is right—even when it is difficult. The children also explored the difference between temptation and sacrifice, thinking carefully about why sacrifice is considered an important Christian value.
Date: 26th Feb 2026 @ 1:46pm
In RE, year 1 have begun learning about the new religion, Judaism. We then began to discuss the question ‘What is a promise?’ We listened to the dictionary definition and then began to explore why people make promises. We took part in a circle time to discuss the importance of promises and gave examples of promises we have made in our class. We discussed why it is important to be trustworthy and what makes someone trustworthy. We made a class promise together and thought of our own individual promises to focus on ourselves.

KS2 Learns About Hinduism in a Special Assembly
This week, KS2 enjoyed a wonderful assembly led by a British Hindu visitor who came in to share her experiences and teach us all about Hinduism. She explained that Hinduism is one of the world’s oldest religions and that many Hindus believe in one supreme spirit, Brahman, understood through different deities such as Vishnu, Shiva, and Lakshmi.
We learned about puja, a type of worship that can take place at home or in a temple, and how many Hindu families keep a small shrine where they offer flowers, food, or light a lamp. She also told us about colourful festivals like Holi, which celebrates spring and new beginnings, and Diwali, the festival of lights.
The assembly was engaging, informative, and a brilliant way for KS2 to deepen their understanding of Hindu beliefs and traditions.
Year 3 visit from Reverend Peter
Date: 7th Feb 2026 @ 7:56am
Year 3 Welcome Reverend Peter for an Inspiring Lesson on Discipleship
This week, Year 3 were delighted to welcome Reverend Peter into school for a special lesson all about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. His visit offered the children a unique opportunity to explore faith, influence, and personal values in a meaningful and engaging way.
Reverend Peter began by sharing his own personal journey, explaining how he became a follower of Jesus and what being a disciple means in his everyday life. The children listened with great interest as he talked about the people, experiences, and moments that shaped his path.
To deepen their understanding, Reverend Peter read from the Bible—Matthew 4:19, the well‑known verse where Jesus says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Together, they explored what this phrase means and how it teaches Christians to inspire, guide, and encourage others through kindness, compassion, and example.
Following the reading, the children reflected on the important people in their own lives—those who influence them, inspire them, and whom they choose to follow. They wrote down these names and discussed the reasons behind their choices. This simple activity led to some deep, thoughtful conversations and many insightful questions from the children.
A huge thank you to Reverend Peter for his time, openness, and thoughtful teaching. We look forward to welcoming him back for another visit soon.
