Acorns - Merry Christmas

Acorns - Elf run

Acorns had fun taking part in the Elf run in the dance hall. We enjoyed reindeer racing, elf running and Santa snowballs. It was lots of fun. 

Acorns - Gingerbread decorating

Acorns have had lots of fun decorating gingerbread trees and snowmen. We have been developing our choice making, choosing which item we wanted to decorate. We then made a choice between different coloured icing to decorate. We love using a variety of different opportunities to develop our communication skills and learning. 

Acorns - Cinderella

Cinderella, the pantomime came to Boundary. Some of our Acorns students enjoyed watching the performance in the hall, and even enjoyed shouting out!

Acorns had the pleasure of welcoming Cinderella and Buttons to class. We got to see some interactions between the performers and then engage with some of their masks and props. We had lots of fun exploring the props and even gave our own starring performance, signing 'twinkle, twinkle' whilst engaging with the magic wand. 

 

Acorns Christmas Jumper Day

Acorns enjoyed sharing their Christmas jumpers and noticing different Christmas images on their peers Jumpers. We all looked so smart. 
Some of Acorns enjoyed trying the Christmas dinner for lunch and we all celebrated with a Christmas cracker and tried our Christmas hats on. 
To get into the Christmas spirit, we were excited to take a trip to the grotto and explore a magical place. We loved seeing the sparkling lights an sitting in Santa's chair. We also found an elf or two!!

Some of us finished off our day with a lovely Christmas disco and pass the parcel.

Acorns - Bucket time

Christmas has hit our Bucket Time. Acorns have been developing the focus and attention during our sessions and we loved our new Christmas additions to the bucket. We all showed an interest in the activity and was excited to see what came next. We were thrilled at the end for it to start snowing. 

Acorns - We’re going on a journey

Acorns have enjoyed going on their very own journey this afternoon to see our local community. We liked going on the minibus and looking at our local sights including the beach, Blackpool tower, the fairground rides and the Christmas lights.

We also looked out for different modes of transport as part of our topic. Although it was a wet afternoon, we saw lots of cars, buses, lorries, a number of trams and even a Spitfire aeroplane on the roundabout.

Acorns - Together time

Acorns had a lovely afternoon sharing their activities with family and friends. We enjoyed participating in a shared learning experience to support sharing resources and turn taking.

Then we introduced our families to TACPAC. An activity to support regulation through sensory touch experiences.

Acorns - Diwali

This week Acorns have been exploring the celebration of Diwali.

We have enjoyed sharing songs and stories, exploring light up toys and lamps in our 'Bucket time' sessions and creating Diva lamps. 
We have had so much fun.

Acorns - Ready, steady, go!

This week we have been exploring travelling by cars as part of our travel and transport topic. We have had lots of fun exploring a variety of resources including a garage, roads and car park, with lots of ramps and new cars.

Acorns have been developing their social skills, playing skills and turn taking skills through a variety of activities with these resources. We have also been developing our communication skills with the support of choice boards and visuals. 

Acorns - remembrance

Acorns explored Remeberance Day through poppy art. We enjoyed collaging poppies and choosing different colours to create our poppies. 

We went outside with Redwoods to lay our poppy's alongside our remembrance area. Some of us enjoyed looking at the remembrance area and some us us planted our poppies independently. 

Acorns - Road safety experience

As part of our topic, people who help us, we have had a visit from Zoe, our school crossing patrol officer. The children enjoyed meeting her in class and looking at looking at her lollipop stick, gloves and woolly hat. 


We sang a song about crossing the road safely and looked at lots of visuals to support our experience and understanding.


We went into the car park and found the zebra crossing, listened to an adult as we said "Stop, look and listen". We looked left and right for cars before crossing the zebra crossing safely. We then saw Zoe and when she was in the middle of the road, it was safe to cross.

Acorns - People who help us

Acorns have enjoyed meeting our school nurse Miss Brooks. She visited us as part of our topic, people who help us. We enjoyed a wonderful multisensory learning experience about help and helping others.
We explored our core word help, through visual, signing and verbalisation. We loved helping our teddys and making them feel better. We even explored helping each other.

Acorns have loved having the owls visit us. We saw four different types of owls and looked at their sharp talons, feathery wings and large eyes.

Acorns loved dressing up as people who help us. We loved exploring the different job roles using puppets and props.

Our shared play helps developed our communication and social interaction. We developed our play alongside each other and interacting with our peers. We also had lots of opportunities to make choices between the different hats, props and puppets.

Acorns - People who help us

Acorns will be exploring and learning about people who help us for the next few weeks. We have enjoyed listening and interacting with our sensory story. 
Acorns have enjoyed being introduced to people who help us through our puppets. We have also incorporated activities into our learning. We loved putting out fires outside like firemen.

This week Acorns have been exploring choice making through lots of our activities.

We have been choosing different facial features while making faces in art. We have been choosing different objects to explore in sensory phonics and maths. 

 

Acorns - Sensory Science

Date: 12th Sep 2025 @ 8:00am

Acorns had lots of fun developing their engagement and shared learning experiences alongside peers during our sensory food exploration. We were using all our senses to explore the ingredients for making pizza. We had fun sifting flour, mark making, mixing in tomato puree and water, tasting peppers and getting very messy.
We are learning to share group resources and working alongside each other, as well as developing our focus and concentration in an adult led activity. We then enjoyed trying see pizza we made earlier. 

Acorns - All about me sensory story

Our sensory story is "All About Me". Acorns have had fun learning about their bodies through our sensory story. We have been developing our engagement through shared learning experiences and multi sensory exploration. Acorns have enjoyed looking at themselves in mirrors and pulling lots of funny faces, finding their eyes, ears and noses and exploring happy or sad.

This week Acorns have been exploring all about me through our sensory story, story massage and bucket activities. 

We are learning our new school routines and new activities together. We have enjoyed developing our interactions with our teachers and peers.

Acorns - Farm visit

Acorns had a moo-vellous time when they visited the mobile farm. Children were excited to see and interact with lots of different animals. We enjoyed brushing the horses, petting the rabbits, sheep and goats and vocalising some of the animal sounds. 

Acorns - Forest School

Acorns have had a fabulous morning visiting forest school. We loved exploring the area, noticing the fruits growing on the trees and the butterflies flying around. We especially loved getting messing in the mud kitchen, washing socks and painting with water and mud. 

Acorns - Sports stay and play

Acorns enjoyed welcoming their families for a sporty stay and play session. We had lots of different activities to explore, including, Boccia, climbing and jumping, peg throwing, beanbag throwing and sensory toys.

Boccia was a favourite, rolling the ball to hit the skittles and developing turn taking and peer interaction skills. We can't wait to do it again!
