WOW! We cannot believe the perseverance from Year 4 today. They have shown all their learning from the last few weeks to explore repeated codes to make shapes and pictures. The children used forward (FD), pen up (PU), pen down (PD), RT (right turn), LT (left turn) and repeat (repeat code) on Turtle Academy to create their shapes and images. Year 4 were able to recognise angles in shapes to input the correct right or left turn.
Date: 28th Jun 2023 @ 6:53pm
Today we enjoyed 'Together Time' with some of our grown ups. We began to explore coins for the first time, recognising the value of different denominations of coins. We matched the correct coin to the correct value, before using coins to make given amounts.
Year 4 - Multiplication Check results
Date: 26th Jun 2023 @ 11:14am
Year 4 have averaged 22 out of 25 for the second year running in the Government Multiplication Check. Last year, the national average was 19 out of 25, so once again Boundary children are flying above the national average. Well done Year 4 we are all really proud of you!

Today was takeover day! With our new teachers we revisited the concept of 1 more and 1 less in the context of numbers from 50 to 100 by applying the counting skills we have previously learnt. We read the story ‘More or Less’ to introduce our lesson. Together, we then revisited the words ‘more’ and ‘less’ reinforcing the fact that 1 more is the number after the given number and 1 less is the number before the given number. We then worked independently to choose a task card, identify the number and then find one more and one less than this number. Finally we played a one more and one less game on Topmarks to show our new teachers everything we had learnt!
Date: 22nd Jun 2023 @ 2:53pm
Today, we got taken over by some Year 5 children; we started the day with an assembly by our new head and deputy headteacher Miss Bell and Mr Binns to introduce our characteristics of tolerance. When we returned to our classroom our new teachers helped us recap what the different word classes are and helped us complete a sorting activity of different verbs, adjectives, nouns and adverbs. After playtime, we chanted our 2, 5 and 10 times tables before completing some sheets thinking about the multiples of each and calculating multiplication questions. We ended our Takeover morning with Guided Reading. We enjoyed being taught by the Year 5 children although they found it tiring and hard.
Date: 20th Jun 2023 @ 8:59am
This week, we have been learning about angles. We have been learning how to identify right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles.
Date: 19th Jun 2023 @ 6:41pm
Today we further developed our understanding of place value for 2 digit numbers, now partitioning numbers up to 100. Together, we identified how many tens and how many ones make a range of numbers within 100, recognising that it does not matter whether we record the tens part or the ones part first, as the whole number remains the same. We then investigated partitioning numbers with concrete resources, such as base 10 and place value counters.

Nursery have been exploring farms this week and we have had so much fun! We've sheered sheep, made pigs, cows and chickens, counted farm animals and made milkshakes. The children have been developing their finger muscles by using tweezers to put wool on sheep and building pens for the animals out of playdough.
Whole School - Fishers Farm visit
Date: 23rd May 2023 @ 2:39pm
Date: 18th May 2023 @ 11:51am
This week we have been enjoying a great story called Bumble Bear all about a bear who loves honey so much he decides to join bee school! We have been exploring the striped pattern of the bumble bee, learning how bees make honey and making our own bees out of playdough. The children have also been following a step by step guide to draw a bee - great for learning how to follow instructions! Its been a very buzzzzzy week!
Date: 17th May 2023 @ 6:53pm
Today we built on our knowledge of recognising a half of an object or shape to now find a half of shape or an object. Throughout todays lesson, we had lots of opportunities to practically find and make half using pictures, objects and shapes. We experimenting different ways of making a half using a range of resources, reinforcing that a half means ‘one of two equal parts.’
Date: 11th May 2023 @ 3:07pm
Nursery have been working hard developing their number skills this week. During our Bug in a Jar activity, the children rolled a dice and used their subitisng skills to say how many spots were on the dice. They then had to count out the matching number of bugs to go in the bug jar.
Nursery Superworm is Super Strong!
Date: 11th May 2023 @ 2:55pm
This week we have read the story "Superworm" about a worm with super strength. The chidlren have been busy exploring length by making longer and shorter worms and adding colours to worms to create a repeating pattern. In the story, Wizard Lizard has a magic flower, the children have been busy trying to create their own magical flowers!
Date: 11th May 2023 @ 12:11pm
Today, we began to find ¾ of an amount by using a bar model to help us. We split our bar model into 4 equal parts and shared counters accurately. Then we had to count how many was in 3 groups to find the answer.
Date: 10th May 2023 @ 6:54pm
Today we worked on becoming more confident with doubling numbers up to 20 and began to explore doubles beyond 20. Independently, we built doubles and explained what a double is using objects, mathematical resources and pictures, using the STEM sentence ‘double __ is __’ to reinforce our understanding.
Date: 4th May 2023 @ 10:43am
Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell left us a gift of some slime! The chilldren had a great time exploring the slime and it initiated some wonderful converstaions with the children. They used some great words to describe the slime such as "stretchy, sticky, boingy and bouncy". They were fascinated watching the slime stretch and talked about how long their slime was and whose was longer. The slime also provided a super work out for the childrens fingers with all the pulling, stretching, poking a rolling.
Date: 3rd May 2023 @ 6:48pm
Today we learnt how to count in steps of 5 using different representations, including tens frames, dice and 50 square. We began our lesson by reading the story ‘Starry Arms – Counting in 5s.’ As a class we then practised lots of examples together orally to practise our skills. We continued to use language associated with multiplication, for example ‘there are __ equal groups of 5, there are __ altogether. We answered key questions, including how many groups of 5 are there? What number is this? How many groups of 5 are there in __?
Nursery Explore Planting Seeds
Date: 27th Apr 2023 @ 11:28am
Nursery have been exploring growth and change and this week we have been learning about planting seeds. We read the story "Jasper's Beanstalk" about a cat who finds a bean and plants it in his garden. We planted our own beans and we really hope they grow in to giant beanstalks! We talked about how to look after our beans and that they need soil, water and sunlight to help them grow. Our planting didn't stop there! We have been very busy planting sunflowers in our outdoor classroom. We also used different construction toys to see who could build the tallest beanstalk - we had some whoopers! We explored shape by making our own Jasper using triangles and circles.
