Well, it hasn't been the start to the Spring term that we had planned but that hasn't stopped Year Two learning lots of new things. Some of you have been brilliant with your remote learning on Seesaw and we want this to continue.
We have seen some marvellous examples of work, including finding features in non-chronological reports in Reading into Writing and some great problem solving involving arrays in Maths.
Remember that Miss Hooson and Mrs Fielding are here for you if you need any help and we will keep checking in with you at home to make sure things are running smoothly. Keep going Year Two, we can do this!

Each day the children in Willow class have logged onto SeeSaw and completed their daily tasks. They have completed a range of different tasks including number, shape, phonics, art and science. Once I have received each child's work I have ben able to give them feedback by asking additional questions or suggesting next steps. The children and parent have responded extremely well to this. It has been lovely to see how well all the children have adapted and taking home learning in their stride.
You are making me very proud. Keep it up everyone!

In addition their daily tasks the some children have done extra tasks including science experiments, extra phonics practice, ordering objects by length and exercising regularly. I have loved seeing all your pictures and watching your videos. Keep them coming.

Since schools in England shut after Christmas, Willow class have been busy getting to grips with their online learning at home.
They have done so well continuing their reading, writing and numbers and then uploading their work so I can look at it and help them further, offering ideas for their next steps.
Therefore, each week someone from Willow Class will be chosen as ‘Star of the Week’ for their outstanding learning they have done at home.

We have been learning about Winter.

Sometimes we used the Seesaw tools to do our work, sometimes we used paper and pencils but we always made sure we practiced our handwriting too.

It's not easy being without our teachers but we are doing a great job with our home learning by listening to and following video tutorials that Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Rose make for us. In Computing, we have completed 2 lessons on spreadsheets - both with a video tutorial to follow. This included learning how to add data to cells, change colour and font of text as well as the size of text and cells. We then progressed to learning how to use formulae in cells to complete calculations. In today's lesson, we learned how to turn data into graphs and how to add a filter to sets of data so that we could order it smallest to largest and vice versa. We think we are doing well with our work!!

We're not going to let a little thing like a national lockdown get in the way of our learning!! In Reading into Writing, we have been looking at figurative language, with a focus on metaphors and personification. We have practised how to turn similes to metaphors and how to bring non-human things things to life using human action verbs. We then watched a video that showed a very angry sea and began writing metaphors to describe the sea. There were some excellent metaphors written!! For our end of unit piece of writing, we wrote a metaphor poem about an angry sea. Here are just three examples.

Well done to all those children who have been completing work during this first week of lockdown. We have been so impressed with the work and effort you are putting in. We know it isn't easy working from home, but the effort is really appreciated and don't forget by giving it a go and sending us your work, we can respond and help and support you! Just remember, every day you need to complete your tasks on SeeSaw, go on Reading Plus, go on Spelling Shed and go on My Maths.
Keep up the hard work Year 4!

Date: 13th Jan 2021 @ 2:48pm
So we've started our new National Lockdown and we're also really busy learning online through Seesaw. The children in school are trying hard to complete the tasks too, but its great to see pupils working from home on their reading, writing and maths. The sites available for the children have usernames and passwords which should be in the pupil's reading diary, we are available via email to support you all too! We know this is a very difficult time for everyone, so well done to those people who are trying their best online each day! We're all learning new skills together!

Lockdown has not stopped Year 5 from continuing their French lessons. We have started our new topic, which is learning how to say the date in French. This week children in school and those at home learned the months of the year. Did you know that the French do not use capital letters for the months?

Today in Cedar, we have continued our learning around maps and aerial photographs.
We used an aerial photograph of our school to find features around our school. We found some of the marking on the KS2 playground, the carpark, roundabout, forest school and the MUGA.
