Today is the 100th day in school. Our Maths lesson was based around the story “365 penguins”. We were told that penguins eat around 2kg of fish a day and that amount of fish costs £29.25. First, we worked out how many days are in each month of the year and in a week. Then we had to work out how much it would cost to feed ONE penguin for a week, each month of the year and for the whole year. Mr Bamber and Miss Crystal then challenged us to work out how much it would cost to feed the penguin on our birthday! Year 4 showed super perseverance and growth mindset.

Year 4 - The start of our Ancient Egyptian adventure
Date: 20th Feb 2023 @ 7:26pm
Today we started our Ancient Egyptians unit. First, we did our start of a new unit timeline flashback. We were given flashback cards for everything we have learned so far in History at Boundary and we had to put them in chronological order. We also went to look at where Ancient Egypt appears on the big timeline in the hall and we soon realised it is a HUGE period of time – around 2500 years. Next, we were given a placemat on our tables and together we noted down anything we already knew from the picture stimulus’. Then, we watched a video and did information runs in our table groups. These activities meant that we learned as many new things as we could about Ancient Egypt, spoke about them to peers on our desks and told the rest of the class. After that, we looked at an anachronism picture and we had to use the knowledge we had gained so far to spot the things wish were the odd ones out. Lastly, we went on an Ancient Egyptian Now, Press, Play adventure where we learned more about the afterlife and how pharaohs were preserved.

We finished the session by looking at what consent means and why we must always ask for consent before we touch someone else.

Today, we explored some existing toy cars and looked at how the cars moved. We discussed that the cars moved because they all had wheels and thought about why different sized vehicles have different sized/different amount of wheels. We then explored how the wheels are connected and learnt they are joined by an axle that ensures the wheels move together.
Date: 20th Feb 2023 @ 4:02pm
As part of RSE week, Year 6 have been learning about how the body changes as we go through puberty. We have explored the importance of communication in relationships and considered different ways in which people might start a family.
Nursery Try and Stop the Naughty Bus

We have been reading a super story called "The Naughty Bus" all about a little red bus who gets himself in to all sorts of trouble! The chilldren have enjoyed making their own buses using chairs, painting pictures of buses and playing a bus counting game. We decided that the bus needed stopping so we made stop signs. The children worked hard writing the letter "s" and loved holding up their stop sighs for the naughty bus!

The nursery children have shown a real interest in building over the last few weeks. They have worked together to build some amazing constructions and have worked as a team to build tall towers, ramps for cars and houses. The children were so good at solving problems that they only needed a little help from the adults - super work!

On the last day of Spring 1, we welcomed parents and carers into school so that the children could showcase everything they have learned during our Fit 2 Go course. From living a healthy lifestyle, to teeth health, as well as physical and mental health, the children showcased their work brilliantly. Four children from the year group won certificates for their fantastic efforts during Fit2Go. Well done everyone!

During the last week of Spring 1, we completed our RSE week activities. Together in our own classroom, we looked at what a lifecycle is and what it looks like for humans. We then began to discuss the stage of life Year 4 are entering into, which is puberty. Puberty can begin to start from the age of 8. We discussed changes that will happen to our bodies, for both the girls and the boys. Then we split into a girl group and a boy group. One group completed some activities about what healthy relationships are and who our trusted adults are and the other group learned about periods - then we swapped so that everyone learned about everything. Both the girls and the boys were really sensible and asked some really important questions. Well done Year 4!

This week we enjoyed our DT day! We began by tasting lots of different fruits, talking about how we knew if certain foods are fruits or vegetables. We then moved on to designing our own fruit salad. We wanted it to be colourful, have at least four fruits in and to be cut up into bite sized pieces!
After creating our design, we then practised our cutting skills using play dough. We learnt how to use the bridge grip and the claw grip and once we had mastered the skills we moved onto making our fruit salad. We used the two cuts we had learnt to safely and sensibly prepare and make our individual fruit salad. We all enjoyed tasting them! Finally we completed our evaluation to identify what we liked about our design and what we might change if we were to make another fruit salad.
YEAR 5 - Animals (including Humans): Gestation Vs Lifespan
Date: 19th Jan 2023 @ 3:01pm
In our last Science lesson, we found out the meaning of the words 'gestation' and 'lifespan'. Pupils then drew a scatter-graph of several mammals to show their gestation length against their lifespan. Pupils correctly identified that, generally, the longer an animal's gestation, the longer its lifespan, and also that the animals with the longest lifespan were large mammals, such as elephants and whales. The only animal that did not fit this generalisation was humans - we hypothesised that this is because humans have knowledge of medicine and how to stay healthy, which helps us to live longer.
Year 3- Our Final Forest School Fun!

This week, year 5 pupils have drafted, edited and presented informal letters in the role of a character from a story. We discussed how the character of Sam, from 'My Brother is called Jessica' by John Boyle, would be feeling about the changes that are going on in his family, and how his behaviour would impact on his brother and his parents. Pupils were challenged to include all the features of a letter, whilst using a tone, grammar and sentence structure that suited a letter written to a close relative.
Year 3- Stone Age to Iron Age Museum
Date: 19th Jan 2023 @ 2:52pm
In History, we were posed with the question 'What can we learn about life in the Stone Age?'. We answered this question by firstly studying Skara Brae. We looked at what has been discovered and we infered what that could tell us about life all those years ago.
We then moved on into our very own 'Boundary Stone Age to Iron Age Museum' where we were able to explore a varety of artefacts from the Stone Age. Once again, we infered what this could tell us so that we could build up a picture of life in the Stone Age.
Date: 19th Jan 2023 @ 2:42pm
Year 3 enjoyed a No Pen Morning and used their Reading into Writing lessons to put down their pens and use their voices! In Reading into Writing, we focused on stereotypes (in theme with our playscripts) and we debated the issues that were put forward. This has helped us in creating conversations for our play scripts. We thought about how we can develop conversations but asking questions and developed our listenign skills.
In Maths, we worked in pairs to practically do flexible partitioning. We used our grouping skills to divide numbers. We had to discuss how we were solving the questons and worked on justifying our answers.
