This week, Year have been looking at match reports. They read about a real match that took place earlier last week (Manchester City V Newcastle).

Year 4 - Mastering Number

Date: 11th Feb 2026 @ 12:13pm

Today, we had a 'card' session in Mastering Number. We love these sessions because it is a chance for us to practise all the 'Going for Gold' timestables we have learned so far since September. We are improving every day!

Year 3 - Safer Internet Day 2026

Date: 11th Feb 2026 @ 9:09am

To celebrate Safer Internet Day, Year 3 took part in a special live BBC lesson all about staying safe and smart online. The session helped us think about how we use the internet every day and why it’s important to make good choices whenever we are using technology.

One of the key messages we explored was the importance of checking information—especially when it comes from AI tools. We learned that although AI can be very helpful, it doesn’t always get things right. The children practised spotting mistakes, asking questions, and thinking carefully before believing or sharing information they see online.

The class showed brilliant curiosity and gave thoughtful examples of times when they needed to check facts. Overall, it was a valuable session that reminded us all to stay critical, kind, and safe when using the internet.

Year 3 - RSE Week

Date: 11th Feb 2026 @ 9:03am

Year 3 have taken part in a series of RSE lessons designed to help them understand their bodies, stay safe, and appreciate the diversity of families.

In our first lesson, children learned the correct names for male and female body parts. Using accurate vocabulary helps them understand their bodies and communicate clearly if they ever need support.

The second lesson focused on personal boundaries. We discussed appropriate and inappropriate touch and identified trusted adults they can speak to if they ever feel worried. The children also enjoyed singing the PANTS song: “What’s in my pants belongs only to me!”, which reinforced the message that their body is their own.

In the final lesson, we explored different types of families. Children shared examples and recognised that families can look different, but all are built on love and care.

The class showed maturity, respect, and thoughtful engagement throughout.

Nursery Like to Ride Their Bicycles!

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 9:46pm

Nursery had a super time on the balance bikes. They took them out on the big playground where they learnt to steer around obstacles, vary their speed and stop safely. Balance bikes are a great way to build core strength becausse the children rely on their core stength to stay upright, propel the bike forward and steer.

Year 1- Mechanisms

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 4:05pm

This half term, our focus has been on Mechanisms. We explored a range of different moving picture books and learnt they move using levers and sliders. Throughout the half term, we have been practicing our cutting skills and we applied this today to accurately make our lever, sliders. Then, we designed a background for our parts to move through and evaluated them for their effectiveness.

Year 1- Fruit Salads

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 4:01pm

This week we have completed our Design Technology unit of food. We focused on healthy eating and created a healthy fruit salad. First, we tasted a variety of different fruits and described whether we liked their taste or texture. Then, we designed our own healthy fruit salads before following our design to successfully make them. At the end of the day, we evaluated our fruit salads.

Year 1- Safer Internet Day

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 3:58pm

Today, we celebrated online safety awareness by looking at different types of artificial intelligence focusing on voice assistants. We learnt the things a voice assistant does and how it can make us feel in different situations. After we created an online safety plan, we recapped what information we should keep private online and how to keep ourselves safe.

Year 6 - Monologues

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 3:05pm

Year 6 Write Powerful Lindisfarne Monologues

This week, Year 6 have been learning about the Viking attack on Lindisfarne in 793 AD. To help them understand what it might have felt like, the children wrote monologues from the point of view of a monk living in the monastery.

✍️ What We Did

The class learned about:

  • What life was like for monks
  • How the Vikings arrived on longships
  • Why the attack was so shocking
  • How to show a character’s thoughts and feelings in writing

After this, the children imagined they were monks and wrote their own monologues describing the terrifying moment the Vikings arrived.

🌟 What We’re Proud Of

The monologues were:

  • Detailed – with great descriptions of sounds, sights, and emotions
  • Creative – many children used strong vocabulary and dramatic language
  • Thoughtful – the writing showed real understanding of how the monks might have felt

Year 6 worked extremely hard and produced some fantastic pieces of writing!

Year 6 - Safer Internet Day

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 2:58pm

🌐 Year 6 Take Part in Safer Internet Day!

This week, Year 6 celebrated Safer Internet Day. We spent time talking about how to stay safe online and how to make good choices when using the internet.

We shared how we use the internet every day — for games, videos, chatting and learning — and we discussed how to use it responsibly.

🤖 Learning About AI: The Good and the Bad

After Safer Internet Day, we explored Artificial Intelligence (AI).
We found out that AI is all around us — in games, phones, search engines and even spelling tools!

🌟 What We Did:

1. Real or AI?
We looked at pictures and writing to see if they were made by a person or by AI. Some were tricky!

2. Spot the Problem
We talked about how AI can be misused, such as:

  • spreading wrong information,
  • copying work,
  • changing photos,
  • making things that could upset someone.

3. Making Good Choices
In groups, we discussed how to use AI safely and fairly.

💡 What We Learned

Year 6 discovered that:

  • AI can be helpful — but it sometimes makes mistakes.
  • Not everything online is real.
  • We should always think carefully before sharing or believing something.
  • If we are unsure, we should ask a trusted adult.

Year 6 - Making pizzas

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 2:52pm

🍕 Year 6’s Brilliant Build‑Your‑Own Pizza Day!

Today, Year 6 swapped their pens and pencils for aprons and rolling pins as we spent the whole day becoming real‑life pizza chefs! From mixing flour and yeast to taste‑testing our final creations, it was a day full of teamwork, creativity, and (of course) delicious food.

👩‍🍳 Step 1: Making the Dough

We kicked things off by learning how proper pizza dough is made. Flour everywhere? Yes. Sticky hands? Definitely. Giggles and excitement? Absolutely!
Everyone worked hard to knead their own ball of dough until it was soft, stretchy, and ready to rise. Some students even discovered they had a natural talent for kneading!

🔪 Step 2: Chopping the Toppings

While the dough rested, we moved on to preparing our toppings. The classroom quickly turned into a colourful kitchen full of chopped peppers, onions, mushrooms, sweetcorn, and more.
We practised our safe cutting techniques, and it was amazing to see how confident and careful everyone was.

🎨 Step 3: Designing Our Own Pizzas

This was where the creativity really took off! Once the dough was rolled out, each student designed a pizza that truly showed their personality.
There were smiley‑face pizzas, rainbow‑topping pizzas, and even some very cheesy creations. Everyone took great care arranging their toppings just the way they wanted.

🔥 Step 4: Into the Oven They Go!

Next came the moment of truth! One by one, our pizzas went into the oven, filling the room with the mouth‑watering smell of fresh baking dough.
The excitement grew as each pizza came out looking golden, bubbling, and absolutely delicious.

😋 Step 5: The Best Part – Eating Them!

After all our hard work, we finally got to taste the results. And what a success!
Not only did the pizzas look amazing, but they tasted fantastic too. Many students said this was the best pizza they had ever had—and the secret ingredient? Making it themselves!

Year 5 - Safer Internet Day 2026

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 2:44pm

During Online Safety Week, Year 5 explored how to use AI safely by looking at different real‑life examples and deciding whether each one was “okay or not okay,” discussing how actions online can be safe, kind and responsible or hurtful and unsafe. The children worked in groups to think carefully about “Pip’s problem,” where an AI‑edited picture was shared in a group chat to make Pip look strange, and together they answered the guided questions, offering supportive advice such as talking to a trusted adult, reporting unkind behaviour and checking in with someone who is upset. Through these discussions and activities, the class learned how to recognise misuses of AI, how to respond when something online doesn’t feel right, and why people not chatbots are the best source of help when emotions or safety are involved.

Year 4 - Safer Internet Day 2026

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 11:08am

Safer Internet Day 2026 – Learning Together for a Safer Digital Future

This week, our whole school joined millions of children across the country in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2026. The theme this year focuses on helping young people use technology responsibly, especially as new tools—like artificial intelligence—become a bigger part of everyday life.

To kick off our learning, the children took part in the BBC Live Lesson, which explored how to stay safe, make thoughtful choices online and recognise when something doesn’t seem quite right. The interactive format kept pupils engaged, and they particularly enjoyed the real-life scenarios that helped them think about how to be kind and responsible digital citizens.

We also held a whole-school assembly dedicated to the safe and sensible use of AI. Together, we discussed what AI is, how it can be helpful, and—most importantly—how to use it safely. Pupils learned how AI tools work, why it’s important not to share personal information, and how to seek help from a trusted adult if something online makes them feel unsure.

Thank you for continuing to support safe and positive online habits at home. By working together, we can help our children navigate the digital world with confidence and care.

Year 4 - affects of flooding

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 9:15am

This week, we looked at what flooding is and how it can affect people's lives. We were shown some examples of flood defences and we had to decide which ones we thought were the most effective. We used our brilliant oracy skills throughout this lesson to explain our reasons for our opinions.

KS2 - Hindu Assembly

Date: 10th Feb 2026 @ 9:10am

KS2 Learns About Hinduism in a Special Assembly

This week, KS2 enjoyed a wonderful assembly led by a British Hindu visitor who came in to share her experiences and teach us all about Hinduism. She explained that Hinduism is one of the world’s oldest religions and that many Hindus believe in one supreme spirit, Brahman, understood through different deities such as Vishnu, Shiva, and Lakshmi.

We learned about puja, a type of worship that can take place at home or in a temple, and how many Hindu families keep a small shrine where they offer flowers, food, or light a lamp. She also told us about colourful festivals like Holi, which celebrates spring and new beginnings, and Diwali, the festival of lights.

The assembly was engaging, informative, and a brilliant way for KS2 to deepen their understanding of Hindu beliefs and traditions.

Schools Alive- Recording!

Date: 9th Feb 2026 @ 9:19am

There was lots of excitement  as the children taking part in Schools Alive recorded the audio for their upcoming performance at the Winter Gardens!

They worked brilliantly together, using their loud, clear voices and putting real enthusiasm into every line. The recording session gave them a fantastic preview of what it will feel like to perform on the big stage, and their energy was wonderful to see. We can’t wait to hear the final performance—well done, everyone!

Year 2- Story Telling Workshop!

Date: 9th Feb 2026 @ 9:16am

Year 2 took part in an exciting live lesson today all about storytelling and the power of music!
The children learned how sound can bring a story to life, create mood and atmosphere, and help the audience connect with the characters. They listened carefully, joined in with activities, and had lots of fun experimenting with how music can change the feeling of a scene.

Year 2- Making a pound!

Date: 9th Feb 2026 @ 9:14am

Today, the children used number sentences, bar models and part–whole models to explore how different coins can be combined to make one pound. They showed great resilience as they tried out different combinations and checked their working using the models. The class enjoyed the challenge and grew more confident in recognising the value of coins and using them in practical situations.
