Using the Music listening Mats, we then listened to Ghost Parade and discussed the instruments we could hear. This song is in 20th and 21st Orchestral style with vocal. To refresh our memories we looked at how an orchestra is set up and which instruments are in one. We listened to different instruments. Next we created a class mind map of our responses to the music. Finally we began to learn the lyrics to the song so that we could perform it.

Nursery have throughly enjoyed using our mud kitchen. The children have been learning to share the resources and work together to make some delicious muddy meals. As they were cooking, the children counted how many children there are so they could make enough meals. They used scissors to cut leaves to add to the food and had some good chats about what they needed to do. "You need to put it in the oven now". "It's ready. Quick get a plate".

Year 3 - 'I'm Learning French'
Date: 8th Sep 2025 @ 9:31pm
Year 3 had a fantastic first French lesson! Some children already knew a few French words like Bonjour, Ça va?, and how to count to 10. We found France on a world map and knew it’s in the continent of Europe. We also looked at France’s neighbouring countries like Spain, Germany, and Italy. The class enjoyed spotting famous French landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and learning about tasty French snacks! We also discovered that French is spoken in other countries too, such as Canada, Senegal, and Haiti. A great start to our French journey!

In our art unit, we're learning how to use charcoal—a fun, messy material that’s great for bold, expressive drawings. Artist Laura McKendry is a brilliant example of how charcoal can bring pictures to life. She often draws animals in a loose, sketchy style that shows movement and feeling. Instead of focusing on tiny details, she uses quick lines, smudges, and splashes to create energy in her work. Looking at her art helps us see that drawing doesn’t have to be perfect—it can be playful and full of expression. Get ready to experiment and make bold marks!

Today our new Reception children have stayed for dinner for the first time. They lined up smartly in the classroom and walked down the corridor to the dinner hall. We were very impressed with how they politely asked for their dinner remembering to say please and thankyou. The children were able to choose three items from the salad bar. The children sat at the tables brilliantly and enjoyed their dinner whilst chatting to their new friends. What a super start!
