πΏπ¨ Year 2 Begin Their Nature-Inspired Art Journey π¨πΏ
Year 2 have started an exciting new art journey, taking inspiration from the beauty of the natural world! ππΈ We began by exploring the work of textile and mixed-media artist Alice Fox, whose artwork is inspired by nature, textures, and the changing seasons.
The children created a special page in their sketchbooks all about Alice Fox πβ¨. They explored key words, added pictures, and experimented with watercolours π¨. We looked closely at her colour palettes, the materials she uses, and discussed what inspires her work πΎπͺ΅. The children thoughtfully shared ideas about how nature influences art and how artists can capture natural beauty in different ways.
This artist study will be the starting point for our learning, and we will continue to use Alice Fox as inspiration throughout the rest of our art journey ππ‘. We are so excited to see how the children develop their creativity, curiosity, and artistic skills as we move forward!
Watch this space for more wonderful artwork from Year 2! πποΈ

This term, during sensory cooking, we are developing our cutlery skills. Today we have been exploring cutting with a knife, using a pincer or bridge grasp or a fork to hold the food in place. We all engaged with cutting soft potatoes and then mashing, rolling and squeezing it into shapes. Lots of fun and sensory exploration. Some of us enjoyed tasting it too.
Year 5 - A Community of Christians
Date: 14th Apr 2026 @ 2:14pm
This week, children in Year 5 began their new journey in R.E looking at Christianity and beginning to answer the question 'How do people decide what to believe?'. The children looked closely at what a community is, the communities they are a part of and how Christians might feel part of a community of faith. They then looked at sources of authority both at school, at home and within Christianity and the impact these people of authority have. Finally, the children were given the 'Hot Air Balloon Task' where they were asked to decide who should be saved from a balloon that had popped! They were given the figures of Jesus, a teacher, a baker and a chef. Some children decided, for example, that Jesus should be saved so that he could save the others if Christians prayed to him as a source of authority.

Today, our Year 4 children have been busy exploring a brandβnew reading resource in school: Reading Eggs – and the response has been overwhelmingly positive!
From the moment the children logged in for the first time, there was a buzz of excitement around the classroom. Year 2 Elm- Making our moving vehicles!
Date: 2nd Apr 2026 @ 3:48pm
This week, Year 2 have been busy engineers in the making as they created their very own moving vehicles in Design Technology! π§°π¨
The children began by exploring different types of wheels and axles, learning how real vehicles move and what helps them travel smoothly. ππ They sketched ideas, planned their designs, and thought carefully about which materials would be strongest and most effective. π‘π
Once their plans were ready, it was time to get building! π οΈ
With cardboard boxes, dowels, bottle tops, tape, and plenty of imagination, the classroom quickly transformed into a buzzing workshop. The children worked brilliantly — measuring, cutting, attaching wheels, and testing how well their vehicles rolled. ππ¨
There were racing cars, buses, monster trucks, and even a few creative inventionswe’ve never seen before! πππ
The pride on their faces when their vehicles moved for the first time was priceless. ππ
A huge well done to all of Year 2 for their brilliant teamwork, resilience, and creativity throughout this project. π
We are so proud of the skills they are developing as designers and makers! π§©β¨
Keep an eye out — you may see some of our future engineers on the roads one day! πβ€οΈ

π Year 2 PSHE: Learning About Personal Safety & Trusted Adults π
This week in PSHE, Year 2 took part in an important lesson all about keeping ourselves safe and understanding our personal boundaries. π§‘β¨
We talked about the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touch in a simple, ageβappropriate way, helping children to understand that their body belongs to them and that everyone has the right to feel safe and comfortable. ππ
The children learned that:
- β Some touches are kind, helpful, or part of everyday life
- β Some touches make us feel uncomfortable, confused, or worried
We discussed that if something doesn’t feel right, they have the right to say “no”, move away, and tell someone they trust. π£οΈβ
Together, we also created a list of trusted adults who can help keep us safe — at home and at school. π¨π©π§π¦π«
This included parents, carers, teachers, support staff, and other grownβups they feel comfortable talking to. π
The children showed great maturity and thoughtfulness throughout the lesson, joining in with discussions and sharing ideas about keeping themselves and others safe. π¬π€
We are very proud of how sensibly Year 2 approached this topic. ππ
They are building important life skills that will help them understand their own boundaries and know who to turn to if they ever feel unsure. π

Date: 2nd Apr 2026 @ 10:31am
This week in Reception. the children have been exploring the world through an exciting hands on experiece at our school pond. We carefully colled some frogspawn to observe back in the classroom. Using books, magnifying glasses and videos, they've been discovering how frogspawn transforms from tiny eggs to tadpoles, then froglets and finally adult frogs, which we will return safely to the pond. This has encouraged curiosity, care for liviing thinfs, and scientific thinking, helping the children develop observational skills, languag, and understanding pf how living things grow and change.
