This week we have been reading the story Rosie's Walk. Although, unaware that a fox is after her, Rosie the hen takes a walk around the farmyard, leading him into one accident after another. An amusing story that helps children learn positional language.
We sequenced the story, collaged a fox, retold the story using small figures and puppets and then acted out the story in our outdoor area where we made an obstacle course to travel under, over, through and around just like Rosie did on her walk.
Take a look at our photos.

Date: 25th Sep 2025 @ 2:50pm
Today, our school witnessed an inspiring democratic exercise as children voted for their class school counsellor. Each candidate confidently read out their manifesto, sharing ideas to support classmates and improve the school environment. After hearing the speeches, students headed to the hall to cast their votes in the ballot box, embracing the importance of participation and responsibility. This event not only encouraged leadership skills but also taught the value of making informed choices. It’s wonderful to see young minds actively engaged in shaping their school community!
Nursery Bake some Bear Cookies
Date: 25th Sep 2025 @ 2:40pm
In Nursery, we felt very sad for the bear from "We're Going on a Bear Hunt". The children thought he looked really sad at the end of the story and maybe he just wanted some friends. To cheer him up, we made him some delicious cookies to share. As we made the biscuits, the children listened carefully to instructions, took turns with their friends and watched how the ingredients changed. The bear said our biscuits melted in his mouth and went down a treat with a nice cup of tea.

We have been Reading "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen. The children are great at joining in with the rythm of the story and are starting to retell the story in the correct order. We went on our own bear hunt around school and found bears in all sorts of unusual places! We used lots of prepostion words to describe where the bears where including on, in and behind! We counted all the bears and found out that we had found 16 bears!

Our fitness unit continues as we look at increasing our heart rate through gentle exercise, increasing this so we use more energy. This week we also introduced the skill of evading in small group games involving attack and defence positions. We thought tactically about how we would move in order to slow down an attacker and how sometimes this involves larger movements of our bodies all the while the attacker had to think about how they moved, introducing 'false moves' to put off the defenders and break through the defense.

We then took part in a mock trial, which centred around a case of online bullying. Children were given roles to play and words to read out, these included prosecution, defence, judge, victim, court usher and witnesses. The children really got a feel for what goes on in a courtroom and some of us are even considering future careers!

Year 3 - Dancing With Charcoal
Date: 18th Sep 2025 @ 9:30am
In this week’s art lesson, we explored the exciting world of performance art through the work of Heather Hansen. She creates stunning pieces using charcoal in each hand, moving gracefully across large sheets of paper on the floor. Inspired by her, we had a go at creating our own movement-based artwork. Using charcoal, we danced, stretched, and moved to make expressive marks, turning our movements into art. It was a unique and creative experience—and yes, we got a little messy, but that made it even more fun! We loved combining art with movement in such a playful way.
