Year 4 had an enjoyable transition session last week. The class focused on team-building exercises centered around some of our boundary promises—showing respect to others and working well together.
The children first played a guessing game where one child gave clues without using certain words. Next, they had to get everyone through a hula hoop in the quickest time possible. Laurel (the new Hawthorn) managed it in 33 seconds!
After that, they took part in various Taskmaster-style activities, such as using objects to create a tabletop game, building the tallest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows, and designing an aeroplane that would travel the fastest.

Reception were very excited when the home corner changed into an ice- cream shop!
Someone made the ice-creams, someone was on the till, the customers chose what they wanted by completing a form with the different flavours and styles of ice- cream and you could design your own ice-cream and ice lolly too. They took turns, helped each other and chatted about their favourite ice- lolly and ice-cream.
Then, when we returned from a day at the beach, Mrs McAllister opened up her own ice-cream shop outside, where children could enjoy a real ice-cream as a treat!
"I love strawberry ice-cream!" Myla- Gray.
"I'm making my own rainbow ice-lolly" Hazel.
"The ice-cream is so refreshing" Harley.

What an amazing day we had at Sports Day! The sun was shining, and everyone was buzzing with excitement. We kicked things off with a thrilling running race. Everyone cheered as our classmates dashed down the track, some really showing off their speedy legs!
Next up was the silly throwing wellies contest. It was hilarious watching the wellies fly through the air! Some didn't go in the direction they wanted to - ooops! We then got our bean bags ready for throwing into the hoops. A bit tricky at times, but everyone had a go and lots of giggles were had. After that, the standing long jump tested our jumping skills – some of us made impressive leaps!
To keep our energy up, we zoomed through the speed bounce challenge. Finally, we finished with a fast-paced cup stacking race. It was a real nail-biter! A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who came to cheer us on. We had a fabulous day full of fun, laughter, and friendly competition. Can’t wait for next year!

As part of Hertitage Week the children in Reception enjoyed a fantastiv trip to St Anne Beach. As part of our trip we learnt about the seaside and the different features of a coastal town. We also enjoyed hunting for shells and pebbles, building sandcastles with our freinds and even had a picnic on the sand. When we returned to school we all enjoyed an icecream. To further develop our learning we identified a range of different vocabularly and talked about why people might visit Blackpool.
"I think people come to go to the Beach" Aurora
"I think that they visit so they can go on the big rollercoasters" Kevin
"There are lots of fun things in Blackpool but I like the football club" RJ
We then watched a promotional video followed by drawing our favourite tourist attractions. We even wrote about why it was our favourite.
Following on from this we compared how seaside holidays and visits had changed over time using our key words 'past' and present' We looked at a range of photographs and discuss why we thought they were in the past or the present. the children then worked together to sort them.

For our heritage work, year 1 explored the question 'how has Blackpool Tower Circus changed?' We shared what we already knew about the circus, before looking at different sources to explore what the circus was like in the past, comparing this to the present day. We completed a past and present sort and created a timeline using a range of circus posters which gave us further information about the circus.
